I don't think my join date has anything to do with my inability to function on these forums.

'08 had some pretty awesome members, or at least I found a lot of good people that joined within that year.

Sweet thread though!

Not really. I'm an 07 and I'll admit that I'm not a quality member.

The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead
From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste of the blood on my lips, again

09's are on the cusp of mythic.

I find members with join dates of only a couple of months post crap that could be avoided if they had simply lurked and not posted for a week.

You may often wonder why those who frequent these forums place value on attributes such as title bars or join dates: they make you better. It's a fact that age often brings maturity, and dare I say it, it's not unlike the progression of one's time spent on the internet.

Are we to assume that there are no exceptions to this truth? Absolutely not; said assumption would be ridiculous. Much like real life, there are indeed outliers that refuse to evolve, refuse to grow up. However, even with a vocal minority holding other forum veterans back, those with experience still shine through.

Not acknowledging this simple fact of life is a rebellious trait found often among youth and adolescence, oft times accompanied by an immature resistance to authority. The hope of many older members is that those who hold this unprovoked resentment may someday mature and become enlightened like us.

Welcome the maturity I speak of, younger members. I proudly guarantee that you will find the experience these forums offer becomes exponentially more enjoyable should you accept this fact: like life, age brings wisdom on Bungie.net. In regard to the days of my own adolescence on this site, I cannot even consider the difference it would have made had I taken my own advice. The elder members of these message boards should be cherished. The flag the elder member is flying, whether it be mythic, '04, doesn't matter: their words brings wisdom. Abandon resistance and let your sensibilities evolve, younger ones; come, join us and discover life on the other side of B.net, the better side.

From the ashes

We, who have been here for at least 4 or 5 years, are clearly the bearers of quality standards on this site!

Ok, if I'm going to answer this seriously. I have always held the idea that a person who joined today, can be just as valuable as someone who has been here for 7 years. The only difference is that they need to prove it.

I don't think any date is going to be associated with quality members, we get bad batches, and it's normal. There were most definitely bad members back in '04 or '05, the only difference here is that the members from that time that are still active, are usually well behaved. So we associate them with that time frame.

08s all the way baby!!

Just kidding just kidding...

I think the date doesn't matter also, someone could join tomorrow and be the most well behaved member of the site or someone could join and not be.

It really depends on the person.

Also I think with time members do become more aware of how to post and learn the site and rules better so they know how things work.

I know personally as the years went by on this site I grew more mature and understand the rules and different things better and my quality of posting and the member I am now is better.. But again it depends on the pwrson

Sometimes it does take time if they want to be that person who is willing to learn the rules and have a better quality of post.

Every member no matter their join dates have their own qualities.

Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

No, I don't think a specific join date makes you have more quality than other users. You just gain it as you become older.

Join dates mean nothing; you don't need to label everything and anyone with stuff like this.

I have found in general that I relate better to 08 members. There are only a few on b.net that I talk to a lot and they are usually '08s. On the flip side, the majority of users I have problems with are '09s... I prefer '10'11 and even '12s much more than '09s. But the golden years were probably around '05-'08.

08 members are the best.

I think there's some truth to this. The glory days of halo 3 was when the largest influx of members was, and the ones that stayed have become part of the community. Between then and now they've also had time to age and mature which correlates to a "better" member.

Indeed. Halo 3 was in it's glory days then too, the forums became very sociable.

Yeah, I loved 08.
I remember it being very social and the Halo 3 Forum was crazy and actually sometimes readable, unlike Reach's.
I also remember the trolls being pretty funny. I forget what one of them was named, but I actually got upset when they were banned.
Anyone know a name? It was I think it was one word, and if it was two, the first word was like "The" or "A" I believe.

I don't think any one of us imbues anything approaching actual quality. Its just interaction. I see no reason to throw on inapplicable and thus meaningless qualifiers on how we interact.
