Subject: I need help: Starting a YouTube channel

Hey flood, I know that you guys don't like helping each other out much but I want to start a gaming channel on YouTube. I need to figure out what people want to watch so I can be both entertaining and productive. I'm trying to get my PVR to record my PC but it will be a few days before I can get that set up.

I plan on uploading content based around these games:
Halo (3, Reach, 4)
Gears of War (2-3)
Little Big Planet (1-2)
Assassins Creed (2-3
Minecraft
Call of Duty (mw2-blops2)
Bastion
Journey
League of Legends
And indie games featured on Indiegames.com

So flood, any games you suggest? I don't want stupid things like "happy wheels, slender, amnesia"

[EDIT]
Also, do you prefer to watch gameplay with or without a Facecam?

Anyone Stream on Twitch? Do you need a beast computer to stream and have little framrate lag with X-Split

my channel if anyone wants to check it out most of my subscribers are close friends.

Good luck.

Why don't we just share the hill?

Just don't give up when you get hardly any views as soon as you start. It might take a while to get more known.

What do you want to do with these games?

Make walk-thrus?
Easter eggs?
General tips?
Secrets?
Randomness?

Narrowing it down from a general gaming channel might help.

sonic.exe

Medieval or whatever its called. FUN game to play and very entertaining to watch with the right commentary.

Probably Tips
Randomness
Walk-thrus

For Halo commentary will be both tips and randomness

Not trying to demoralise you, but there are already so many commentators on youtube, so its hard to drop in. Also, think about what makes YOUR channel special. Be new, inventive and funny. People want to see something new, something better than the rest. Do you offer them that? If you do, ill be happy to be your first subscriber/follower

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal.

And from FOX, two phantoms were born.

Recreate famous movie scenes in games.

I feel like making content for YouTube is like an art style. I need to practice and keep putting out videos so that I develop my own style. I want to do this as a hobby and have some fun with it.

I have a couple subscribers but they are just my friends, I'm trying to put out a video once to twice a week. 1 Halo video and 1 other video.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Updated OP With some questions.

  • 01.03.2013 8:42 PM PDT

Don't worry about what people want to watch, worry about what you want to make. That's the best advice I can give you right there.

  • 01.03.2013 8:43 PM PDT

Achievements. Make achievement walkthroughs and I will love you.

  • 01.03.2013 8:44 PM PDT

@Spleens, Okay
@Dark Jedi, What type of achievement Guides are you talking about?

PM me and I can set you up some Minecraft stuff, as long as you play on PC.

For those who wish to contact me on Xbox LIVE, my main account is "The 7th Taco", and the one linked with my profile here is only a backup.

I'm hopefully going to be making YouTube videos sometime in late February/early March.

Good luck to you, OP.

I've already decided what games I'll be doing, it's just whether or not my commentary is entertaining enough to make people want to watch more of my content.

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

I could always help you out by being your first sub.

Moonbase Alpha. Game is master race.

  • 01.03.2013 9:00 PM PDT

Bungie r dicks

Garry's Mod and Counter Strike Source content would be nice. I'd even play with you.

If you want something encouraging, I'm going to show you a bunch of well known commentators' first videos. Trust me, this stuff helps when you feel like you're no good at it:

Seananners
Hutch
CaptainSparklez
IIJERiiCHOII
OnlyUSEmeBLADE

I could pull up more, but I think you get the idea. Pretty much no one is good at it off the bat.

  • 01.03.2013 9:02 PM PDT

By the gods what are you doing here, well don't just stand there man make the tea! Make yourself useful and look at my Fileshare.

Play what you enjoy
