Subject: How does master chief wake up with new armor?

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

It's 343's interpretation of it.

Though MP is cannon now, and it has the old Mark VI...

If you were responding to me on that one, Master Chief was the only spartan to receive MarkVI armor, all the other ones had Mark V.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Halo is evolving, this is 343's Halo, not Bungie's.

The art design is ew.

I agree 100%.

For the 9586232569th time, Cortana modified his armor while he was in cryo sleep.

WHY ARE ALL THE SPARTAN II's wearing it in the intro scene then!?
They are in a different location. Most likely closer to armories and supply lines.

Chief wasn't afford any such luxuries.

No, that's complete bull. Every spartan II had Mark V or extremely similar armors, the armor chief has now is apparently personalized for him by Cortana.

Uh...no.

Nowhere anywhere does it say that Spartan IIs only wore Mark V. Look to Jorge from Reach. He was the only S2 from Noble team and he did not wear Mk5.

I know everything, I've just forgotten most of it.

Also, my XBL Gamertag is 'Wenggh', not 'A Stolen Fruit'.

He changed his armor by himself as well. Remember Halsey got mad at him for making modifications?

Artistic license. Cortana explains the new HUD but does not mention changing the physical armor, nor does anything else in the game.

Frankie gave a vague one sentence comment about how nanotechnology did it, but there has been no follow up on that. Theres been nothing to clarify what he was going on about. He could have said "magic pixies" and it has the same effect.

The weird thing is that 343i changed the Chiefs armor, which is fine I guess, but then they also changed the legacy Legendary Mk VI armor as well....... do they really think that little of Bungies work that they had to change the Mk VI armor TWICE?

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

1. Cortana upgraded his FIRMWARE. Unless his suit's software can somehow rearrange his armor, and reconstruct it, Cortana did bugger all to his armor.

2. "But the suits have Nano-tech." Not Chief's MK VI armor that he got in Halo 2. The GEN-2 Armor has the nano-tech. Not GEN-1 MK VI MJOLNIR.

3. "It's 343's artistic vision of the armor. Not Bungie's." IDGAF. A plot hole is a plot hole, no matter your level of pride. Not only they did retcon what Mark V armor with the new armor, but the Mark VI now looks identical to GEN-2 SIV armor. It's not physically possible for chief to have gained new tech while drifting for 4 years.

He could have stumbled upon a Forerunner Combat Skin maintenance bay, and got it that way. Simple.

Bad writing is bad.

True.

However, since Halo 3, the various armors have had somewhat of a back story. With when/how/where they were made.

It's not a far reach that other Spartan IIs, closer to supply chains and armories, might be able to acquire various armor.

I gaze upon the stars and see the majesty that is the universe.

EGO mos bulla astrum.

Nano robots stored in the Forward Unto Dawn used usually for maintenance were used by Cortana to upgrade the suit.

Cortana: "I've made some modifications."

"But I kept the damaged chest plate...for some reason."

After, all the nostalgic feel of Halo gos away, I can say the campaign had some wierd plot holes.

Off Topic: How did Cortana already know what Infinity was when it was barely the second mission? They just fell from space and automaticaly go: WE MUST FIND INFINITY!

To your off topic question, it is because in one of those garbled transmissions, she heard the ships name, and she later mentioned that it was in a prototype stage when they left Earth.

Yep thats it really, its just bad writing. Topped off with bad design.

I still can't believe how we have TWO new versions of Mk VI and no original armor in sight. We don't have Mk V, ODST, CQB or Noble Six' helmet in the game, because none of us like those armors right?

And the Commando helmet...... I can't believe we went from this to this. Embarrassing.

They were still not MarkVI or above they were alternate specialized armors to complete specific tasks.

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

343 didnt have the rights to the design. apparently.

they should have done some kind of "new armour" scene as in halo 2.

  • 01.03.2013 6:27 PM PDT

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

I don't get why 343 would give Master Chief a new armor look and still give us the REAL Mark VI for multiplayer, especially when he's probably getting completely new armor (Mark VII maybe?) for Halo 5.

What about the Halo 3 Mark VI design multiplayer reward for Legendary completion?

  • 01.03.2013 6:28 PM PDT

Its the same Armor just redesigned. Stop with the butthurt already, they don't need to explain everything so it fits into cannon.
