Ok so today in class we got a new studen from London UK. For some odd reason everyone thought his accent was amazing. And people started asking Him dumb questions like where you in the olympics and other random crap that was just made them look stupid. Well this got me wondering..... What would it be like if the avrage American guy went to a British School/College.

Would they like your accent?
Would they call you out?
Would they glorify you?
Would it be harder to make UK Friends?

So tell me People from Ireland,Scottland,UK,Aussie

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Heyyyyyyy. Washingtonian in England reporting in. For some reason UK girls swoon over American accents. I suppose it's just something different for them.

We have an American guy at our high school.

He's from Chicago and at first his accent was so strong (it's not just his accent though... he has an odd voice) that we couldn't understand a word he said. Now it's better, though.

We don't glorify him. He's just [NAME REDACTED]. ;) And no, I don't think he had trouble making friends.

Yes, but Australians (which, I presume, includes you) have pretty cool accents. Therefore, OP just lumped them into that whole british thing.

Well my school recently got a German exchange student, and he literally gets ALL of the women, even though he's not that good looking.

Come british Flood members and tear this man apart.

  • 01.03.2013 6:48 PM PDT

As a Brit, I personally don't think you'd get as much hassle as vice versa. There is already a couple of Americans at our school and while they probably got asked a few questions they are just merged with the school now.
