I've long since given up understanding science.
Dude, I've been saying it for years. Science might as well be black magic. With the advent of quantum physics and quantum mechanics it seems literally anything is possible. Think about it. Scientists just 20 years ago would have laughed you out of the room for suggesting that something could go BELOW absolute zero. Today, people just shrug and say, "Figures."
I actually believe this. I'm convinced. Anything is possible. A sufficiently advanced intelligence could have near-godly levels of control over matter and energy. In a few hundred years we might be able to morph into unicorns and beam our nuts to Mars.
Did you read anything other than the title of this thread?
Yes. I'm saying that all of these new discoveries in quantum science make it clear to me that there's a lot humanity doesn't know about the universe and that a lot of the things we think we know about it could easily be wrong. I was making a point with comedy. (Although I do believe we'll make important discoveries and huge technological leaps in the next few hundred years that we can't even conceive of right now.)
My point is that no one there is no temperature less than absolute zero. In fact, the concept of "negative temperature" (not less than 0 K) has been known for quite a while. Maybe I should have cut down your post to simply this:
"Scientists just 20 years ago would have laughed you out of the room for suggesting that something could go BELOW absolute zero. Today, people just shrug and say, "Figures.""
Quantum definitely leads us to a strange and exotic world but there are still rules.
