Subject: There is no football in "football"

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

American Football evolved from Rugby which evolved from Assocation Football (soccer.)

Rugby used to also be called Football. When American Football evolved from Rugby, they just kept the name "Football."

While the name itself is weird, American football is better than English football.

Why? Because the players in American football aren't cry babies and cry and fall on the floor when they're tapped.
which is why they're wearing 40 tonnes of armour..
Well you don't need pads to flop. Look at the NBA.

He threw down a glove you made the mistake
Of picking it up now you're gone
The choosing of guns or fighting with swords
The choice of weapons is done
He'll tear you apart as soon as you start
You know you don't have a chance.

I call American Football, American Football and I call soccer, soccer.

American football =/= European football.
Over here we have rugby.

I don't see why people think a sport has to be named with the action of it. European Football is literally about the only sport which is named like that.

  • 01.04.2013 12:48 PM PDT

Holy Hell, guys, just google it.

American Football is named that way because it was originally a variation of Rugby where you would kick the ball to pass it. However, many rules changed over the years, eventually leading to the origin of the forward pass.

Rugby's a better sport than either of them.

The exact same thing can be said for soccer. Except mistakes are more detromental, not only that in soccer you have to control the pace at which the game is flowing

When I watch soccer I just don't see as much variety in the different positions. At least compared to american football in which each position is completely different.

It's not as visual as it is in football, but if you play or watch soccer a lot you can spot the changes when they happen. Just as you get mad at a QB for not throwing at an open receiver, you'll get mad at a midfielder who misse the opening for a through pass.

No no no no no. This is a football.

That is an American football.

Rugby was invented when there were no strict rules for a game of Football, right? In my home town, no less.
