Do you think microsoft will make online service free this upcoming generation? As what MS offers for a price is free on every other platform...

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

No. It's all about the money, money, money...

As long as people pay for it, micro$oft will continue to charge for it.

Look at this joker.

He just used the words 'Microsoft' and 'free' in the same sentence.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

I can't see it happeing. They make money. People continue to sign up (myslef included). Why would they stop? I wouldn't mind it of course. I just don't see Microsoft having any incentive to do so.

But the reverse is also true.

Why would they? If you were easily making about a billion dollars a year off a service why would you make it free?

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

1. Oh surprise surprise, someone in a socialist country asking for something to be made free. UK, I am disappoint.

2. Even though there are more Xbox 360s out there, more people use the PlayStation 3 as their primary source of Netflix streaming. Could it be because Microsoft banished this service behind a pay wall? Fact. I was shocked when I realized this, actually.

3. From my quick skim, he makes decent points but until XBL starts losing users rather than gaining them, the pay will stay.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

If you were getting paid by an employer who also had volunteers, would you ask your employer if you could start "working for nothing instead of you paying me"?

As long as the customers see value and are willing to pay, ANY company would be foolish to stop charging.

If (due to consumers comparing the competition and speaking with their wallets and their feet) stop subscribing, then and only then would ANY company consider changing their business model.

I agree with that article.

I believe they may because really that and RROD was what made the PS3 take off so much.

It's because they currently have a product that people feel is worth paying for.

Until Microsoft loses a considerable amount of profit from Xbox Live subscriptions, they will never get rid of that horrendous fee. As for me, I'll be doing my part and unsubbing. It's not like Xbox has had any decent titles that took advantage of live since Halo 3.

"Happiness is like glass, you might not always notice it but if you change your view and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light."

I doubt that they will remove it, although they may make a few changes. I don't really see why they would remove something that people actually pay for.

I dont see the problem with paying the money. Maybe if they costed 50% less, because in my opinion the games on the 360 are better and so is the experience.

Halo is there only real card left to play. And it's dwindling.

CoD is more popular on Xbox though. That game alone could probably hold them up.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

This is nothing new to me. Sony really hit the nail on the head with their live service. It's not that great compared to Live, but the people that pay for PS+ actually get benefits out of it. The only thing Live is is a pay to pay service. We really get nothing out of it.

We shouldn't even have to pay to play games online. We already paid for the game so we shouldn't have to pay extra just to play the other half. If they are going to make us pay for Live than the 360 games should be half the price because of it. That's like buying a car. Even though you bought the radio that's included in it. If you want to use it you have to pay.

The coming next generation of consoles could eat into that though. Assuming the cost of the consoles (X720 and PS4) and games are the same or comparable, if players see that they can play their COD on the X720 for $60 a year or on the PS4 for $0 a year, when it comes time to upgrade, they're going to get a PS4.

I could see them making the ability to play games online being free but anything else, no.
