If (due to consumers comparing the competition and speaking with their wallets and their feet) stop subscribing, then and only then would ANY company consider changing their business model.
This is the saddest part. I'm not renewing mine and feel bad for ever griefing people who refused to pay for XBL in my upcoming renewal period.
It takes a lot of PC gaming exposure before you can look at both the Xbox and XBL and just realize how horrible it all is.
Everything really started going downhill with the blocky dashboard with ad's. I remember everyone getting mad, but not many actually did the one true thing you can do about it.
Changes like "Everyone end their subscriptions and demand it be free" just seem impossible. Call it a coup or revolution, a protest or walkout. I don't consider the average gamer capable of making such a stand sadly. Even if they, we, you -- should, for the changes that XBL needs. It's not offering any "premium" services anymore. You're getting a cluttered add plagued dashboard that Microsoft is generating additional revenue through, on top of your subscription.
One less subscriber is nothing to them, but I personally know I'll feel better over it.
