Don't punch a British kid, the queen'll come after you.

I'm just starting to get in to the whole electro scene. I haven't been to a rave yet, but I've hung out with molly a few times. Anyway, I really like Crookers. Any other similar artists you could recommend?

And how easy is it to be a DJ?
I am not the one to ask if you want stuff like Crookers.

When you say DJ do you mean producer? A lot of people get them confused, a producer is someone who actually makes electronic music.

If you like more of an electro house sound, a good ground artist to start with is Feed Me.

As for making your own music, it's not at all easy. Keep in mind that the people who do have dedicated a better part of their life to be as good as they are. However, if you're interested, there are plenty of ways to get started.

That's it, I was in raves in Vegas nearly 10 years ago. The music they were playing was very similar to this.

If it's so similar, why have all the different names for it? Why not call the whole genre techno, and have each band have their own unique style?

Its confusing when you guys label and then sublabel everything as though its different. These are nothing more than contrived dividers.
If you listen to it a fair bit you can easily notice differences in the subgenres. It's pretty stupid to put ALL formsof EDM in one pigeonhole since there are so many different kinds.

Here are but a few:

Garage
Minimal Techno
Dubstep
House

If you think they all sound indistinguishable then you should get your ears checked

Nope I mean mixing songs together at parties and stuff. Might be a cool thing to do at some high school parties

Oh cool, you know what the word actually meant.

You should probably look up some guides rather than asking me though.

Can someone also explain the differences between hardstyle, house, drumstep, etc?

Did you ever listen to those? They're pretty distinct

Ah I like some of Feed Me's work, however I prefer more vocals.

Soul of the mind, key to life's ether
Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel
May strength be granted so the world might be mended...
So the world might be mended...

I enjoyed GiantBombs description, they basically called Dubstep the Heavy Metal of Techo/Electronic.

Granted, they could be wrong as I haven't listened to to much Dubstep...

And that is why you shouldn't look on a videogame website for information about music

I don't understand how people can't tell a difference.

Figured, it made me laugh though. It was in one of their game of the year casts this year.

Well, it can kinda be classified because of Brostep like Excision who uses sounds in the same range as the electric guitar. Dubstep is basically being combined and made a hybrid with many other genres of electronica so you can mainly only classify it by some of the basics which actually define it as dubstep.

On the Left

Godshatter: I can go all the way with someone without being attracted to them.
CamCamm: How does that work?
Godshatter: I'm easily aroused by anything that moves. It's a curse.
Brain says 'No, that's ugly', body says 'ugly is fine with me'.

I used to know the answer to this. Something to do with the tempo and downbeats, but I don't remember.

Its rave music. I remember being a young man in my twenties dancing in Vegas with a mini glow stick in my mouth to music just like this.

I thought it was supposed to be different, its not.

Son, I am disappoint.

Well unless you're 60 I don't know why that surprises you. Dubstep has been around for a while, it's not just some new thing that has come about in the past 5 years so you probably were listening to it. And yes there is a difference between Dubstep and electronica.

If youre not a music hardcore lover, then its a lost cause to make you understand. Im not one, so i dont understand. Im sure there is a difference, but I enjoy the music. I dont go deep into as if it matters to me. I enjoy it? GREAT! Ill be jumping p and down on the dance floor.

the , and I completely agree. I guess some people don't have the fine-tuned-towards-electronic-music ears that we do.

More awesome than a shark high-fiving a bear during an explosion...IN SPACE.

Electronic music is the umbrella that dubstep and techno fall under. For example, here's a Dubstep song and here's a Hard Dance song (Hard Dance is one of the really fast genres used for rave music). They're both electronic music, but are very different.

I . . . I don't know.

Electronica covers the entire genre of music made with synthetic instruments.

Dubstep is an Electronica subgenre.
