Subject: Microsoft is angry at Halo bullets.

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

Kotaku link.

Long story short - Some wise guy is making Halo branded bullets. At least he uses the Halo font on the boxes and calls them 'Halo Point'.

XxHaloFanxX (not real name) wrote "I am writing this whilst experiencing intense anger and frustration that this appears to be an official Halo product, and that one of my favorite video game franchises appears to be promoting ammunition sales!" he said to me in an e-mail. Later, he added, "I hope from the bottom of my heart this is not an officially sanctioned product."

Any company with a trademark brand would have done the same.

Microsoft won't allow Master chief in Gears of war, why the hell would they allow the image of their most prized franchise appear on a box of bullets??

They are fiercely protective of Halo and it's image, somebody is going to get sued into the ground.

You must mean image in terms of marketing. If not, then I am going to have to ask where you were the past three years.

They allowed a Spartan in DoA4.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

-Me

what if Bungie while they owned the rights to Halo sanctioned this without Microsofts knowledge?

They allowed that because it was just a fighting game with no gore in it, plus it wasn't master chief Bungie tried to make it canon so MC couldn't be in the game.

The franchise is rated M so it can get a pretty big audience, having it in GoW would have shown the character in a 18+ game which for uneducated parents would destroy the image of Halo.

Think about it parents buying games for their kids would notice a character on the box and not the name. So if they saw master chief in a bloody game where people get sawn into bits, and then saw Halo that could prevent sales.

New bullets made recently compared to something in 1998? Are you being serious?

Not what I meant.

The game is so horrible at this point, the online population is getting smaller each day. At some point, Halo PC is going to have more players than Halo 4.

The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

If I was Microsoft I would be annoyed someone is associating my game with real life bullets.

A) Using my IP (legally their IP) without permission for profit.

B) Making cheap jokes whilst selling ammunition. Bad PR right there.

Although the pun is funny.

Oh wow people are far too easily offended.

Who's offended? Its just a mega corporation who has their trademark stolen and used to profit on another product.

  • 01.04.2013 2:45 PM PDT

Trussingdoor is pretty kewl. He fires lasers and doesn't afraid of anything.

My thoughts:

So he's selling Halo bullets. It's illegal, but don't get butthurt about it. I don't see how anyone could claim to be a fan of a freaking FPS game and be offended by ammunition sales. What kind of retard reacts like that after playing a game where you kill stuff throughout?

But this is illegal and should be stopped as such.

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Nobody is offended, what they did was illegal.

RIP Logan ~B.B.

Who is dumb enough to steal the trademark, font, and artwork from the most powerful company of the last century? It has to be intentional corporate suicide.

Bungie never owned the rights to Halo. Microsoft purchased the studio before Halo came out. They just had control over their own game while they were part of Microsoft.

Circle Jerkin' I got my wiener workin'

I don't see what they did wrong here. The font and logo look different enough to not be infringing the copyright. I honestly just think it is an honest mistake. Look at the bullet shape, it resembles a halo and the same halo is on the box, and the font was chosen to look cool.

Anways, what would be the point of using Halo as marketing their ammo? The majority of Halo fans are little kids who can't buy ammo.

They had to give the rights to Microsoft, so yes Bungie owned the IP until they sold it.

Thats your answer and the main thing that causes people to blame video games for violence.
