Subject: Could terrorism be...a good thing?

When this thing hits 88 mph....

If peaceful, diplomatic courses of action have been exhausted or taken off the table, is it possible that terrorism could be beneficial to promoting positive change? Do the ends justify the means?

Of course. America did it...not specifically to incite fear, but militia attacks against an oppressive government have their place.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

No. Terrorism is always wrong.
Then how does one achieve change if the powers of authority wont allow it?

  • 01.04.2013 3:15 PM PDT

Depends on your point of view.
I do not agree with the taking of lives for a cause but there are other forms of terrorism that don't involve killing.

You're making a bold assumption that they never attacked civilian targets or other non-combatants.

You shouldn't be going against the government in the first place.

I never said it did. The Boston Tea Party is one clear example of terrorist acts. I'm not equating them to modern terrorists.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Before this thread goes any further, I think the OP needs to define "terrorism." There's a distinct difference between the standard and the "modern" definition.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

No. Never justified.

And yes, the USA used terrorism against the loyalists. Tar and feathering was the most gentle tactic used...

It was wrong then, and it is wrong now.
