In Halo 4 the DMR is brought back with the BR but didn't the BR ultimately phase out the DMR? If the DMR firstly could kill at longer ranges but at five shots while the BR could match that in four why bring it back? Also why does the BR have a five shot now since it has a longer, heavier barrel? Shouldn't that mean better accuracy, less spread, and ultimately a better rifle?

I've got a fan!

It's a gameplay mechanic, and aesthetic features aren't directly associated with those mechanics. 343i wanted variety with their various weapon types.

I always find the DMR to be more accurate for targets that are at a further distance than the BR. I think the DMR is intended for long range and the BR for mid-range, and that would be why they are both in the game.

Cortana used nano bots to change all of the weapons. She is going rampant, so while she did make some of the guns better, she also accidentally made some of the guns worse.

Yeah but looking back at the canon, one phased out the other and the other got a better barrel in this game to compensate for the range dilemma.

Hmm ok. I don't really know much about it canon-wise, so if you are putting it like that I really wouldn't know.

Well look at the chronology of the games. Reach had the DMR but then the BR became dominant, so why make a better version to then bring back its predecessor of which it replaced?
