One does not choose a destiny, his destiny is bestowed, shaped and formed, from the soul.

Sorry for coming off as a dick, long night. I assume it took you 1. A while to pay for this car. 2. A while to save $5,000. The amount of time you took to earn this money is now being put into something that I believe in the end of the day is has no value. Instead of putting the money into rims that create zero value for you, you can use your saved money to make you money.
In my eyes you are willing to spend 5k on something that is useless and has very little value. Instead you can use your 5k and have the potential to easily grow it to 5.5k and beyond. With a little bit of time you will have more than $5,000, buy whatever you want, and then have extra money to fall back on.
Then again, if it took you very little time to make this money, or you place an intrinsic value on rims or whatever that is much larger then zero then at the end of the day do whatever makes you happy.
I get what your saying, but I feel like your assuming I'm going to buy expensive things. I'm not ganna buy expensive rims, though they are costly. I'm ganna look for cheap parts, but I'm also looking for a good quality. Two things that are hard to come by at the same time
