Subject: Is this a good gaming laptop?

I dont really know. I can afford it easily, but I'm not the most technical of people. Once I can play all the steam games I wish without needing to worry about specs. Is this any good? And If I buy it, how long would it last be before dropping below quality standards?

This is it

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

Yes lol wow, I guessed that that was going to be the laptop you linked and it was. That's the exact one I got, runs great. Downside is battery life, 1 hour to be exact. Just keep it plugged in at all times.

I know. A laptop is less than ideal. But I need something portable.

It has a dedicated GPU, and an i7 processor. It looks like a powerful laptop, but a tad expensive for what it is (though it is a laptop). How well it performs overall I don't know, but I'm sure some benchmark searches with the model number would bring some results.

Why, hello there.

eh...

Other than that, yes. If you can, get something with the 680M.

What are the odds. Works well you say?
1 hour? Darn...
Not a deal breaker though.

That pretty much destroys it's purpose...

I prefer to be the man in a mask.

My friend got a $500 laptop from Walmart that can play Skyrim.

Thanks for reading my signature!

I believe its GPU is somewhere in the region of 7750 power, so look up benchmarks on that.

Will try that...

You shouldn't be surprised at the battery life. It's a gaming laptop after all. Those gaming stuff need them extra power.

Along with doing that, I found this laptop on Newegg. The GPU it has should be more powerful than the 660M, but the CPU isn't quite as powerful though for gaming your GPU is the primary concern. There's also this laptop with the GTX 680M. Expensive, but overkill powerful.

Also, If I bought this, how many months/years will it be before it becomes moderately 'outdated'

Yes it is because laptops at that price usually crash on MS word

The second one seems like a worth-while purchase. Size, and overall portability is also a factor.

Laptops start on the lower end of specs because they need to be portable. The specs of pretty much any laptop will be "outdated" when compared to their desktop equivalent. That being said, I'd give most modern technologies about 3-5 years from their start date (the i7 in your linked laptop is Ivy Bridge (2012) and the GPU is from 2012) before something worthwhile to spend the money needed to upgrade comes by.
