Subject: Remaking the Halo 4 Plot

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

Here's a link. You may not edit it but do please post suggestions and feedback in the talk or here.

This is my Dream Halo 4 Plot. It's never going to happen but this is simply fixing all the bumps and holes in the road 343 paved. The Campaign has potential; this page is to harness this potential and bring it into great effect. It's a work in progress but this is true, absolute fan service to the Flood; I'm doing this for you guys!

Ad Infinitum

You can't remake Halo 4's plot because nobody will ever be satisfied by it.

No, but it's a good thing to shoot for.

And I swear there is a LotR reference in the phrasing of one of the missions.

Yes. I did that on purpose and I am working on it. Trying to make the campaign as extensive as possible.

Ergh.

It's too much like the vanilla game (although it's probably supposed to be).

But I do like the idea of setting foot on Installation 03.

I wanted to add as many fitting levels as possible.

Catacombs sounds fun to.

Sounds like the underground parts of the second level in CE.

I was going to say we never got that part of Forerunner aesthetic in 4, but there were some parts in Forerunner that looked damn near identical.

Here's what I think and want the campaign to be as of right now:
Level 1: After years of being in the back part of Forward unto Dawn Cortana wakes you up after detecting a planet. As you wake you notice that Cortana is a little fuzzy and shaky. You also still have your old Mark VI armor.

As you're being briefed on any important details your ship suddenly gets rocked as you're being boarded by a covenant pirate fleet.

After fighting all covenant off the Forward unto Dawn the planet begins to suck you in and you must try to reverse this by activating rockets but you ultimately fail and crash land on the planet while still inside.

Level 2: After crash landing, you find your way through the rubble you see a structure off in the distance. Cortana tells you to go see what the structure is. As you go there a party of covenant pirates detects you and you must run from them by avoiding them in the forest and later getting into a chase when you find a Warthog. When you finally reach the structure you find out that it is a map room and Cortana tells Chief that they need to get to the "Harmonic Communications tower" to try to get help from the outside like the UNSC but they need to find a ride to get to the tower. Chief then saws that he can ambush some of the pirates and get a phantom.

Level 3: As the Chief hides in the forest while a thunder storm is happening, he sees the pirate force of phantoms in the distance and proceeds with his plan. On his way over there, Chief sneakishly kills several watch parties with a sniper he found in the beginning of the level. When he reaches the force and kills several pilots that Cortana points out for him. When watching the force he sees many factions kill weaker factions brutally. Things get pretty crazy but the Chief manages to get the Phantom. Cortana pilots and navigates of course while Chief takes it easy.

Level 4: As they reach the communications tower, the phantom Chief and Cortana are on is struck by some laser similar to a spartan laser combined with the watch towers of Sandbox. When you get to the tower it seems empty and lifeless. After wandering, you find a console for Cortana to be plugged in so that she can find the room to communicate with any UNSC ships in the area. As you proceed, some watchers scan you and watch you for a little bit creating a creepy feel when all of a sudden some promethean knights and crawlers begin to attack you. After fighting room to room. You find out that UNSC Infinity getting inside the planet so you race to get outside to find some form of transportation to land inside one of the Infinity's hangers. When you get inside you see the ship being assaulted by prometheans and covenant pirates. The Infinity starts sending Pelicans to drop anti-aircraft weapons when they suddenly spot you.

Level 5: Captain Del Rio greets you on the hangars and briefs you on the situation and plan to get into one of the pirate cruisers by blasting through one of their hulls and dropping you off in a Pelican. After fighting Covenant personnal, you get to the brig where you put Cortana into a console to direct all hell to the other cruisers which all fly off. Final part of the level is getting back on Infinity to fight the remaining enemies. After that, Cortana tells you that while in the console she learned that the pirates found a signal when they got close to the planet. Thinking it was some sort of ship, they went to try to pillage it. Del Rio tells you that Infinity detected s similar signal but they thought it was a Halo ring that they wanted to research but while on their way they seemed to have been sucked in by the planet.

Level 6: Chief is sent to off with a battalion of marines and spartans to try to find out what the covenant is up to in a strange rock formation. After fighting several blockades of covenant promethean knights begin to fight off all the humans with tactics that overwhelm the UNSC. Chief goes off trying to escape the mayhem to find out some information.

Level 7: While escaping you find a strange cave structure that leads you to some covenant who are guarding a door. you search inside and find a lot of covenant hardware connected to forerunner systems. As you go further you see a giant disc to which Cortana tells you to go inside.

Level 8: As you go into the ship holograms of forerunners appear like ghost running, looking nervous and seemingly trying to attack you. Suddenly promethean knights begin to attack and kind of lead you to some brig. You put Cortana into some console and she accidently unlocks the Didact who kind of looks like an Engineer from Prometheus.

Sorry, ran out of ideas but the first few levels sound pretty good.

Can someone please tell me why the hell the Infinity is always near Requiem's core?

Is it that crucial a plot point?

  • 01.04.2013 11:41 PM PDT

I wish someone would make a plot that go in depth about how the Didact united the prometheans and the Storm Covenant, Cortana only mentions this but does not explain.

The Chief and Cortana wanted to get home by tracking the signal of the infinity to its location. They tracked the signal, but it turned out to be the Didact attempting to escape from Requiem to get to the composer.

Jul did go looking for the Didact, hoping that he could help him in defeating humankind ever since ONI killed his wife, imprisoned him on Onyx and plotted to devastate the Sangheili.

This is all explained in the novels. Halo 4's plot doesn't need to be changed, when connected to all the other fictional sources it's grounded in going back to IRIS pre-Halo 3, it's easily the best in the series.

And don't anyone start talking about needing to read novels to understand the game. Without citing Contact Harvest, tell me Truth's motivation for wanting to destroy humanity. Without citing Uprising, tell me about what happened between Halo 2 and 3 that led to Johnson, Thel and the Chief ending up on Earth. Without citing Ghosts of Onyx, tell me why it was necessary for the Elites to join with humanity after Halo 2. Without citing The Fall of Reach, tell me what happened before Halo CE before Wars and Reach were released 8/9 years later. Without citing First Strike, tell me how Johnson survived, how John made it back to Earth, and how the Covenant discovered its location.

None of this "Halo 4 sucks because you need the novels to understand it", you need them to fill in the significant gaps of ALL the games.

  • 01.05.2013 8:03 AM PDT

Now let's get down to business, I don't got no time to play around, what is this?

I didn't love the Halo 4 campaign, but following on from Halo 3 I'm not sure what else they could have done.

F0ck the police

I was disappointed they didn't have a cliff hanger. My prediction for halo 5 is that the arbiter will ask humanity to fight on his side in the covenant civil war.

To be honest, I think the plot of each numbered Halo has fallen a bit flat in the last few levels. Certainly Halo 3 never lived up to the enormity of what it promised to be, and 4 felt a bit lacklustre with its 'research station being attacked by the Covenant', followed by, suddenly, we're at Earth and fighting for our direct survival. There wasn't any buildup there, and it felt forced as a result.

I haven't read the books, so it sucks for me. I have spent enough hours on Halo wiki and reading the Fall of Reach to understand Halo 1-3. Understanding Halo 4-6 is gonna be very hard to do.

It's been so long since I read any of the original trilogy books... could you tell me about these things? XD

1) Truth discovered that humanity were the chosen heirs of the Forerunners, the Luminaries (devices used to detect Forerunner artefacts) were displaying humanity as Reclaimers, not objects for reclamation. Truth realised that if this got out, that the Forerunners hadn't actually died out (Forerunner being a title, not the actual race name), the Covenant would fragment and humanity would be worshipped just as Truth was plotting to assume power of the Covenant.

2) In Uprising, John attempts to assassinate Truth on the Keyship but is almost killed and ends up abandoning the ship on a door piece. How Johnson and Thel made it back has not yet been explained.

3) The Elites had to join with humanity because the vast majority of their fleet and their Imperial Admiral were wiped out by Whitcomb's NOVA bomb at Joyous Exultation, and the Sentinels at Onyx wiped out another of their fleets. Joining with humanity was ultimately a convenient compromise to save their skin, not just because the Arbiter said so.

4) Fall of Reach went into detail about how Installation 04 was discovered, the coordinates having been found in the battle of Sigma Octanus IV. The background of John is examined (something only Halo 4 has done in the games), and we see the events forcing the Autumn to make the "random" jump - in reality, Cortana used the coordinates gained from Sigma Octanus IV.

5) First Strike tells us that Johnson, conveniently enough, found a Pelican with some other survivors and is immune to Flood infection (due to his augmentations as a Spartan-I) and they left the Ring. Linda is recovered from space, they board a Covenant ship and go back to Reach to rescue the other Spartans and Halsey - who recovers a slipspace crystal that bends time. Regret starts amassing an army to go after Earth, but 500 ships are destroyed when John and his team blow up the Unyielding Hierophant. They return to Earth to warn humanity about the Covenant invasion, about 12 of Regret's ships having survived the explosion.

As usual, the Flood does nothing but talk. Could help me make this tribute since that's why I made this thread in the first place. "I came here looking for soldiers,"
