I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure -- that is all that agnosticism means. -Clarence Darrow

They've not "put up" with the government, many of them actually think it's a good government. Ever notice how the population worships the head of state? A fair amount of them, but not all, are just incredibly brainwashed.

Someone's already said this. Oops.

Probably the smartest decision the regime has made in quite a long time.
Agreed.

This is good news. This is the first step to the end of their corrupt government.

Where did you pull corrupt from?

Anyone who didn't cry at Kim Jong Il's memorial was arrested

Think of it what you will

And where did you get this from? CNN? BBC? Fox? (shivers).
If you think their media lies how do you know ours doesn't?

Good on him!

Maybe North Korea will become a nice place to live in the future!

Ha! Who knows what happens behind their closed doors, besides failed rockets and such.

That place will never hold peace, they're too dependent on their master, who is indeed, a fool. I don't care if he finally made a decent choice for once.

Life will always find a new way to ruin everything you know, enjoy the moments of peace to their fullest and prepare yourself for the lemons that are heading your way and you might just make it.

I knew the country would start to open up the moment he took over since he grew up in the west and had the same comforts he did.

Then he did a disney show for his country without Disney trying to sue them (I guess they are allergic to nukes) and then on New Years day he had fireworks for the 1st time.

He obviously knows opening up the country a bit economically will give them country the ability to feed its people while still holding a dictatorship.

AKA a legitimate loveable dictator in NK terms.

What exactly do they intend to trade?
They are a coal mining country and economists seem to think oil will take a back seat to coal again in the future, so they have plenty to sell.

As far as we know, out of the 5 tries, they've successfully launched a rocket twice. A MUCH better start than the United States and Soviet Union when they tried ballistic tests.

Similar to China, Vietnam, and Cuba. They all managed to retain communist rule with little to no problem. The problem with North Korea is that they had a starving population and a military dependent economy. I can see with trade, food will be given to his people and the military will shrink and be less dependent.

Well, you have to take into account the fact that when the US and the USSR first attempted ballistic tests, that was early in ballistic technology's history. That technology has improved over half a century, and NK has access to this new technology.

He also extended a olive branch to south korea later last month. I think he wants to be more like his grandfather then his dad. People respected his grandfather but feared his father.
