So why keep them? Because some bad guy with a gun might break into your home? The guy breaking in could have bought a gun to help him incase the person in the house is armed.

Yep. It has happened. And I defended myself.

Ive also pulled my gun out when someone tried to rob my girl and I.

Theres 2 occasions in the past 4 years where my gun have saved my life and my possessions.

Good job! I prevented someone from breaking into my house by showing them my shotgun through the kitchen window and held them there until police arrived, if I wasn't armed this thug would have gotten away and possibly tried to rob some old woman or something.

Your life? So the gun put your life at risk and you still defend it????

LMAO.

Wow.

No the gun SAVED my life.

If I didnt have it, I could either be broke or injured/dead.

Get a clue.
Interestingly enough, you never mentioned being shot. Just injured or broke. There are other methods of defending yourself than restricting yourself to a firearm. Even if your opposer has a firearm, there are still methods to stop that person.

Perhaps you should invest some time in other ways of defense. Or stay out of places where people will be tempted to rob you.

Why are you talking right now? You obviously have no idea what it is like to own a gun but you are quick to stereotype americans for owning them. What is wrong with you people? Honestly?
I think the figures speak for themselves, especially in comparison to other first world countries.

Then what do you suggest we do?
I think the answer is staring you, as a country, dead in the face.

Keyword: "Could".
If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas.

Did you know your assailant would shoot you? Did you know he would've killed you? Did you know (assuming he had a firearm) that it was even loaded? Why not just let him finish and claim on insurance? Surely, putting your life in danger for the sake of bravado and material possessions speaks more about you than the intruder.

Even then, do you know if (again, assuming a firearm) the weapon he had was illegal? Or if he would even have attempted to commit a crime had he no easy access to guns?

That is the reason not a single thing will change in your country.

The only possible thing to do is add more guns which only makes things worse. 260 million guns belong to 50 million people.

Why does anybody need more than 1 gun?? Your obsessed with them and the whole "I might need to overthrow the government" something that hasn't happened since your country was founded.

And you have no chance of beating the military or police so those guns will be like pea shooters.

So why keep them? Because some bad guy with a gun might break into your home? The guy breaking in could have bought a gun to help him incase the person in the house is armed.

It's a never ending loop with no end in sight and more people dying every week because nobody has the balls to get rid of the 2nd amendment and making stricter gun control's like those in Europe.

But hey your the United States your country is perfect you don't need to do things like everybody else, your way is right.

I wonder if the collapse of your country will change your minds.[/quote

The US track record with gun crime is appallingly high, and you have the most relaxed gun laws out of everyone in the same league. It's laughable that most people completely overlook this in favour of "HURR NEED GUNS, FREEDOM AND 'MURRICA".

Look at the recent big shootings. How many were stopped with this "perfect scenario" of a civilian stopping a spree? One. Is that really a justifiable statistic? Really?

Our gun laws are largely due to our horrible drug laws and comparing them to other countries is just silly. We see right here in America that regulations only make things worse, murder rates and even gun crime increases. You're missing a variable here, violence.

Exactly, YOU were able to control the otherwise dangerous situation. They'd rather your life be in the hands of a criminal, though. He MIGHT not kill you if you surrender YOUR property.

Again, a gun isn't a solution to everything. Most of the worlds best criminals don't run around using guns to get money or valuables from the innocent. Usually, if there are guns involved, it is against their own breed.

Keep in mind, one thing criminals will do constantly is try to avoid the law and law enforcement. A robber gambles hugely by shooting you for some dollar bills.

The only thing irrational here is the irrational fear of guns.

Why discuss topics you're not properly educated in? You show you're naive by saying this and thus inexperienced to be talking about it. Pistol is great for concealing, shotgun is great for home defense and a rifle gives me range.

Nobody should have a fire arm in their home, unless they own a lot of land like a farmer or they go hunting. Which in the UK is heavily monitored unlike the USA where you buy a gun and that's it, take it where you want.

So you admit it's happened. I'm not obsessed with guns, I'm obsessed with protection, security and defending liberty. Do you honestly think if we didn't have guns the government wouldn't steamroll us and become even more tyrannical?

I don't remember guns being used to overthrow governments in Europe during the revolutionary wars, The French revolution 1 side had guns and guess who won? Not the side with guns.

The Spanish requisition which happened multiple times where done without guns. The siege of York no guns.

If your military won't side with your government then how exactly will that government steam role you??? Please explain this to me.

Because guns give us all a voice, even an old lady that would otherwise be defenseless. And we already know there isn't a correlation between guns and violence, gun regulations in America actually cause more harm and even increase GUN CRIMES! Notice how all of these mass shootings happen in gun-free zones? Because they know no one will be able to stop them. You have given them easy pickings.

Take away guns, they become less available to EVERYBODY prices go up on the black market so only the serious criminals will buy them.

Those criminals get caught and the guns get found and destroyed = 1 less weapon in circulation. Why is the whole of Europe 600 million people has next to no gun violence when only 2 nations which make up about 40 million people combined have guns?

Our gun problems are due to our horrible drug laws, and Europe has more violence than America. People that want to kill are going to try and kill, it doesn't matter if guns are legal or not, but a heavy amount of guns definitely makes criminals second guess whether or not they should even take the chance not knowing whether or not the victim can control the dangerous situation.Drug laws have nothing to do with, Europe does not have more violence than America unless you have proof that it does.

Sure people who want to kill and going to kill that's impossible to prevent with guns in society or not (One shooting in Switzerland this week for example) but its harder to stab somebody than to shoot them.

Also having no gun makes a criminal 2nd guess his ability to commit the crime, I have seen video's of people trying to rob shops and being chased out by the shop owners, neither side had a gun.

The man who broke into my home, had a gun.
The man who tried to rob me and my girl had a knife.

Both situations I handled myself with my handgun.

You save a life by shooting another person, either way somebody is shot and both sides have a chance of bleeding to death or having a fatal wound.

Guns are made to kill, not save lives. Its very use and reason for creation was for war and conflict.

Do you know what a criminal is? OF COURSE they are not going to give up their guns. It can be said equally with drug cartels and their drugs or terrorists and their WMD's. These are CRIMINALS you're talking about.

The difference is with taking guns away and legally having guns, a criminal could appear as a simple bystander with a CPL. He can't blend in if guns are not allowed.

Criminals, man! Bad guys who don't care!

Because Americans have a perversion with feeling powerful. Owning a gun gives them exactly that. Today, the Second Ammendment is irrelevant, because it is just about impossible for the American people to defeat the government.

I don't want to see guns banned, but I'm calling for gun control. Not banning all guns.

Ban guns, crime may go up but if your police where competent they can find the criminals and take the weapons eventually the violence will die down and less guns are available.

I would rather stick it out until the violence ends in 10 years instead of allowing it to happen for the next 200 years.

Which saves more lives in the long run? The very thing you claim guns will do.
