"They don't call him Flopper for nothing"-AquaBlader

At this point anybody who is pro gun rights is an idiot and beyond repairing.

Why are people going against guns?

Instead of blaming the weapons, why don't we take second to think, why do these people want to go out and kill?

People will always go to kill because it is in their nature. Nature cannot be fixed.

I re-emphasize that if I didnt have a gun, I could be dead or broke.

I pray that you are never in that situation without a good way to defend yourself.
My point being that he may never have had a gun in the first place, if people like you were willing to surrender your own. It's a cause and effect cycle revolving around the same struggle of helplessness and power that people take advantage of, with only the "law abiding citizens" barely keeping up because of the same laws they uphold for that very reason. The ones not willing to be offensive with firearms are the ones who will always lose out somewhere along the lines, while those using them to commit crimes will always be ahead. The best you can do is to cut your losses.

Somewhat carrying on from the previous paragraph, for example, there is no way in hell I'd see the adolescents and young adults here have legal access to firearms. I would literally move country because I know they're not trustworthy with them. The problem in the US is that the laws favour the wrong people, assuming that everyone under them is trustworthy until proven otherwise. And when they are proven otherwise, they're blown off as being "unfortunate, unpreventable tragedies". In a country that condones violence to such a degree as the 'States, do you really expect to see less gun crime with things staying the way they are?

More on a personal note, assuming the only person who had an illegal firearm was the person who assailed yourself and your property, would you rather have been a sole victim in place of the many killed in recent shootings?

And actually, I have been the target of violence on a fairly regular basis. I've never needed a gun to defend myself, and I don't see any of the situations turning out better if I did.

Why are you talking right now? You obviously have no idea what it is like to own a gun but you are quick to stereotype americans for owning them. What is wrong with you people? Honestly?
I think the figures speak for themselves, especially in comparison to other first world countries.
The US track record with gun crime is appallingly high, and you have the most relaxed gun laws out of everyone in the same league. It's laughable that most people completely overlook this in favour of "HURR NEED GUNS, FREEDOM AND 'MURRICA".

Look at the recent big shootings. How many were stopped with this "perfect scenario" of a civilian stopping a spree? One. Is that really a justifiable statistic? Really?

Our gun laws are largely due to our horrible drug laws and comparing them to other countries is just silly. We see right here in America that regulations only make things worse, murder rates and even gun crime increases. You're missing a variable here, violence.

Ban guns, crime may go up but if your police where competent they can find the criminals and take the weapons eventually the violence will die down and less guns are available.

I would rather stick it out until the violence ends in 10 years instead of allowing it to happen for the next 200 years.

Which saves more lives in the long run? The very thing you claim guns will do.

All of you are being childish and downright silly, thinking that there are only a few factors that go into gun violence in the US.

The factors are numerous and vary from state to state, city to city.

As an American, I love my right to own a firearm (though I do not currently), and I don't want it to ever be taken away. Not because freedom or because it's in the 2nd Amendment. But because it is my right as a human being to be able to defend myself (using lethal force IF necessary), my property, and my loved ones.

Nobody should have a fire arm in their home, unless they own a lot of land like a farmer or they go hunting. Which in the UK is heavily monitored unlike the USA where you buy a gun and that's it, take it where you want.

Why?

I don't remember guns being used to overthrow governments in Europe during the revolutionary wars, The French revolution 1 side had guns and guess who won? Not the side with guns.

Of course peaceful revolutions are possible, but not always.

If your military won't side with your government then how exactly will that government steam role you??? Please explain this to me.

Tyrannical laws that give them more power. PATRIOT Act and NDAA as a quick example, also what they have done to our debt and monetary system.

Take away guns, they become less available to EVERYBODY prices go up on the black market so only the serious criminals will buy them.

And then criminals will know they can rob you without you being able to protect yourself. Not to mention stabbings would increase massively.

Drug laws have nothing to do with, Europe does not have more violence than America unless you have proof that it does.

WHAT?! HAHAHAA! You just showed you have no idea what you are talking about. Drug cartels are the reason there are so many people dying by guns here. If you legalized drugs crime would decrease drastically. Remember alcohol prohibition? People were shooting each other over wine... Also, here's that [irl=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25671/Violent-cr ime-worse-Britain-US.html]proof[/url] You wanted.

Violence, murder rates, crime rates and even GUN CRIME rates dropped in D.C. and Chicago after harsh gun laws were struck down

Not to mention Kennesaw, GA, where they REQUIRE heads of households to have guns and ammunition, and they saw a massive reduction in crime and home invasions. You simply have no proof that guns cause violence, only the opposite has shown to be true.

Sure people who want to kill and going to kill that's impossible to prevent with guns in society or not (One shooting in Switzerland this week for example) but its harder to stab somebody than to shoot them.

Prisoners do it all the time quite successfully. I can chew on a tooth brush for a minute and kill you if I wanted.

Take away the ability to kill easily you lower the crime rate.

You save a life by shooting another person, either way somebody is shot and both sides have a chance of bleeding to death or having a fatal wound.

Guns are made to kill, not save lives. Its very use and reason for creation was for war and conflict.

A gun in the hands of a responsible person can just as easily save a life as opposed to a bad person taking one away. Say someone was running a woman with a knife getting ready to stab her and you had a rifle and were witnessing this, you'd honestly not shoot the person with the knife? You don't consider shooting him saving the girl's life?
