I do not want to stop asking. I do not ask to stop wanting.

Same thing happened to me after I bought Mass Effect 3. The problem went away after a while.

Probably because I can't stand the game, and I haven't even finished a second play through on it.

Opinions are like butholes. Everyone's got one, nobody wants to hear about it.

This happened to me last week. *Try taking apart your Xbox and cleaning the laser with a cutip and rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, you have to either order a new disc drive and replace it or send it into the Microsoft's repair center.

*Taking apart your Xbox with void your warranty.

Call me Stu

I had this problem, I had to send it off to get a new Disk tray for it.

I would take it apart, but if this has already happened once before what is going on exactly?

Sounds like your laser is dirty or your disc drive is broken.

Replace the disk drive?

The disk drive in each Xbox is tied to that Xbox.

So in internet terms....
One does not simply replace an Xbox disk drive.

This. Had a problem where my Xbox would sometimes read a disc and sometimes not. Opened it up, cleaned internals, worked great after that, until it broke from a non related issue (it was five years old, so it was bound to give out).

Do you like Green Eggs and Ham???

My disk tray slides past the laser, so I did some Red-Neck modifications with Zip-Ties and it works fine now. (It's been almost 2 years.)

I have the exact same problem, and unfortunately there's no fix unless you want to send your Xbox to MS or buy a completely new console.

Fortunately, there is a new Xbox around the corner, so you might just want to wait for that instead of replacing/fixing your current 360.

OP, I have had this problem in the past. I don't know how to solve it.

I haven't even finished my FIRST play through of it, and I've had it for months.

Yes, it's possible and there are videos on YouTube that show you how to take apart your Xbox and clean the laser.

I had this happen because the xbox would having trouble spinning the disc up. After inserting it give it a small hit. It usually has trouble getting going.

I eventually ended up buying a new drive on amazon of the exact same model and switching the boards inside. This could be an issue depending on which drive you have. Do your research if you want to do this.

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

Take your Xbox apart and clean your disc laser then, it takes about 10 minutes and there is like a hundred youtube vids showing you how to do it.

This may not be the best option. The new Xbox could be rather pricey and even hard to get for a while. I plan to wait about a year after it's release to get one, so I replaced my old Xbox with a slim a couple months ago.

  • 01.05.2013 11:46 AM PDT

You could always install the game. It'll put less stress on the disc drive.

That is not true in the slightest. Where did you get that information?
