Hey.

Preference. Do what makes you happy. Gaming is for fun, not for best specs.

"Hello. My name is Stephen Hawking. Physicist, cosmologist, and something of a dreamer. Although I cannot move, and I have to speak through a computer, in my mind, I am free. Free to explore the universe, and ask the big questions."

I've found that, over the past six months since I got into PC gaming, that I've amassed two separate groups of games: ones that I prefer to play on PC, and ones that I play on console. For instance, I've got myself a group of RPGs and PC exclusives(or just games I was introduced to first on PC) such as The Witcher, XCOM, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, etc. for the PC, and my shooters for the XBOX, such as Halo and CoD.

Lemme put it this way.

You already have a PC...let's say a low end, $300 desktop, which you need for a ton of things.

Now you want to play games...you take a quick look at PC gaming and say "hey this costs a lot of money". In reality, it really doesn't. If you can save up $300 - $350, you can build a pretty decent gaming PC that can run any game to date. Grant it not on max....but they'll run.

So...
PC = $300 (more or less)
Brand new Xbox = $300 (more or less)
Combine the two.

It saves you money in the long run. Games are generally cheaper on the PC than they are on console. Especially if you're using a digital distribution service such as Steam.

Because it's better?

You save a lot of money in the long haul as the games on PC are cheaper. There is a much larger variety of games actually larger is to small of a word but anyway... Mods improve games life times exponentially and the graphics are freaking amazing.

Yes.

You can hand-build an exellent PC for only $500 too. It's not like you have to get rid of your console either, it's just that the PC has better games overall.

Also, since mostly everyone has a pc in their house, they can just do a simple upgrade rather than a whole new build. All you would need to upgrade is the CPU, GPU. (possibly the psu, ram, and mb depending on how old your pc is) which would cost roughly $300. Which is the same price as an xbox.

I thought i3s were a waste because new PC games are beginning to work with Quad Cores?

Waste of money? Ha...no....definitely not.

If you're building an $800 build or higher....get an i5. Anything below go for an i3.

I presume many people who go for a PC as a source of gaming are those who are ready for something new. Like when the new consoles come out, you will have to reinvest in whatever that new console is. Platforms don't always support your existing game library so it's not really any different when you go to the PC platform and need to rebuild. The only difference is that you can upgrade on the PC platform without throwing out everything in the process. In that view, it's more economic since your game library was for the PC platform, and you're simply upgrading hardware within the PC platform so your library moves with you.

Unlike consoles where your N64 doesn't play on your GameCube, and your GameCube doesn't play on your WiiU. Or where your Xbox library isn't fully supported on Xbox 360, or how current PS3s don't support PS2.

(V)!_!(V) crab

1. Depends on the game.
2. retarded trolls/fanbois

The one downside to PC gaming is the annoying fact taht most games (at least for me) have needed troubleshooting. Various problems arise like low FPS, not installing properly, DRM, drivers, video settings, etc can be annoying in comparison to a console where you just stick it in and play.
