Check it out. What the hell is the Maelstrom? And this fight scene would have been so much more badass compared to what we got in the final product.

Also check out this storyboard "picking up the Chief". I'm guessing Cortana teleported Chief off the ship right before the nuke detonated, which I like a lot better in my opinion than her wrapping John in the hardlight bridge. In the second panel we see the Mantle's Approach split in half from the detonation.

Also, look how much cooler this concept of the hardlight shield is.

And this concept of the Composer on the Didact's ship with his cryptum below it looks cooler than the actual in game final product.

Link to galleries for more halo concept art.

I love how the dialogue for Chief was "something badass"

Pathetic. Typical cliche CoD "Whoaaaa so dramatic and c00l!!!!" action sequence.

So start right now today and risk furiousness for bliss.

I think the maelstrom is referring to the beam that the Didact shot at the Earth.

I think its the "force" we see didact using.

Hmmm, I don't know what to say...

Some of that looks like it would have been better than what is in the game now.

  • 01.05.2013 3:05 PM PDT

That sequence was the exact same though.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

This is true, except the visuals were a bit different than the storyboard.

Hope you're not serious. Under this logic no one, ever, is allowed to have a good action sequence.

If this is official, it confirms once and for all the Didact's alive. He falls into the slipstream abyss, and probably ends up somewhere else.

Where is the real question.

Which would be appreciated.

That's exactly what she did though...

Well, where ever the Prometheans are manufactured from the energy gathered from the Composer. I'm guessing Requiem, but that would be too cliche to have the Didact return there.

They're transported to the composer. Which is the portal between digital and real worlds. It's safe to say we will see both Cortana and The Didact in future Halo's, because I would imagine Cheif would want nothing else but to get Cortana back which can be achieved through the Composer.

Wasn't Maelstrom like a planet or something in Mass Effect?

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

So they were going to make a QTE boss fight no matter what? That is horrible.

Requiem seems most likely, as that's where the composed humans in New Phoenix went, as Spartan Ops revealed. He'd likely have sent them there to gather more ships, since I doubt the Mantle's Approach could hold several billion Knights.

Where he went from there is anyone's guess.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
