I guess we shouldn't mention that they are like a bunch of women because they can't agree on a deal.

Deal will be reached tomorrow.

I've never really liked "conventional" sports (Football, Baseball, etc.), but I love Hockey.

ooga booga boooh

People who don't understand the merits of hockey fights have never played much hockey in their life, and have little understanding of the sport, its history, and the culture of it. Hockey is a real mans sport.

This isn't soccer, where a bunch of grown men put on their best act when they get nicked on the leg, then fall over and cry. These men are MEN.

I played Hockey when I was a kid, but I wasn't much good. I went to my first game in person last week and it was amazing. I'm in love with the sport all over again.

But, Motocross.

As a hockey player, I have to say the Rugby is actually the manliest sport.

That's also why hockey is the dumbest sport ever.

I don't play sports to prove my manliness, I play sports to defeat the opponent.

Either way, they fight like total wusses.

and what sport do you play?

Why does that matter? You mad or something?

This fighting crap doesn't help score goals. It's pointless and stupid.

not mad. Just wondering if the sport you play takes more skill then hockey.

Can you point out where I said my sport takes more skill than hockey?

No, Rugby is.
See, even a Hockey player agrees.

If you're a zombie and you know it, bite your friends.

The Flood Theory of Deterioration: q(p)=(qi)e^(-p/r)

Where q(p) is the quality of the thread as a function of p posts, (qi) is the inital quality of the first post, p is the amount of posts and r is the e-peen of the original poster.

As much as I am a fan of the fighting. Especially when you get a small guy like Rick Rypien (RIP) that will take on anyone. This is the stuff that makes me love Hockey.

Oh yeah it's so cool because they're fighting!!11

What are you guys, -blam!- 12? Soccer is the most competitive and skillful sport. No one gives a -blam!- about 'manliness'

Hockey takes skill because it is fast paced, played on skates, with a stick and a tiny rubber puck and is full contact. Not because they can fight as you so erroneously believe.

I've played Soccer for 22 years. I'd have to disagree that it is the most competitive and skillful sport. I'd actually argue that, out of all the sports I have played, Water Polo takes the most skill and is the most competitive, followed by Hockey, then Lacrosse, then Soccer, then Rugby.

If you think the best part about hockey is the fights or you think the best part about Nascar is the crashes, you're just adding to the reasons as to why that sport isn't much fun to watch by itself.

I never understood why the refs just let them brawl it out when they're just going to give them a penalty afterwards and when it's not even a part of the game. So stupid.

When someone tries to hit/slash a star player, they get taught a lesson.

Ex: Eric Goddard beat up Rosehill when he slashed Crosby.

Yeah, and that lesson should be that they're given a penalty by the ref. None of this fighting garbage that isn't supposed to be a part of the game in the first place. And then what ends up happening? They both get a penalty. Shows how smart the players are.

Fighting has been a part of Hockey for a very long time. What's this "isn't supposed to be a part of the game in the first place." bull-blam!-.

Perhaps if the refs actually called penalties the players wouldn't have to step in and take care of it themselves. Even still potentially take out the best player on the other team for a 2 minute penalty isn't a big deal.

Potentially take out the best player on the other team and get beaten up for it is more of a deterrent.

  • 01.05.2013 9:25 PM PDT

Hockey is full of children. If your star player is attacked, why do they rest of the team join in? It's between the attacker and the star player, not the whole -blam!- team.

Anyway, rugby is a REAL man sport. They wear nothing but studded boots, knee high socks, shorts and a t-shirt, yet in all of these other pansy sports like American football and hockey they are wearing helmets, shoulder padding, chest padding and shin pads. Wussies.

  • 01.05.2013 9:25 PM PDT

Why not focus on removing players who focus on attacking other players rather than playing hockey? You're trying to solve a problem with a problem. Surely you understand that trying to justify poor conduct by making it a response to poor conduct just doesn't work.

Why isn't it supposed to be a part of the game? Who made that decision? It's been a part of the game since pretty close to it's inception.

I'm not trying to solve any problems. I'm just pointing out how it is.
