Subject: Perceptions about Australia

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

People not from Australia, I have to ask. Does the legend that everything here can kill you actually bother you in anyway? Or is it just everyone playing it up for lulz. I used to assume it was all just a joke, but I'm slowly beginning to worry that people actually believe coming to Australia is like walking into a death trap.

So, are people legitimately concerned about all the "danger"? And if so, what bothers you, I'm interested to hear it.

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

Crocodiles, killer kangaroos, Godzilla, super stingrays, and homicidal Koalas are reason enough for me never to go.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

Well, there's a lot of dangerous wildlife in Australia, is there not?

I like how your sub box is full of science and political videos but your recommendations are full of anime girls kissing each other.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Yes. I thank the powers that be every day that Australia is contained to one land mass far, far away from me.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

1. A lot of people want to live over there but seeing as "you" make it incredibly difficult to even spit in your water most people don't try.

2. Yeah the "Everything can kill you" Is rather intimidating. Can you explain to us why there are so much poisonous flora/fauna over there? That has always interested me.

I will say the issue with the box jellies is saddening. You can't even enjoy the nice waters without death.

Unto the Fray we go

I've actually been to Australia, Melbourne to be exact. I went back in 2006.

My stepdad was Australian, he;s the one who took me and the rest of the family there.

Only have 2 perceptions based on my experience.

1. Do NOT let an Autrailian guy be your stepdad, he will abuse you.
2. You root for the opposing team in a football game, OHH SHIIIIIIIIIII-

Well now they have flying spiders, so I don't reckon that water-locked security will endure much longer.

There is, but its not really that much of an issue. Like, I've never really been worried about snakes, spiders etc, because common sense says you avoid them, and they avoid you.

Diseases from fruit bats and stuff though, that -blam!- is scary. But said fruit bats dont live all over Aus, so its cool.

All the world's for living when love is what you find
Despair and loneliness you've got to leave them far behind
Tell the clouds to go let the feeling show
It's great when life is full of living

Even the sun is trying its very best to kill you.

1.- wat

2.- I went for a walk through the bush earlier today. Things that i encountered which were dangerous: None. Unless you count a Brahmin as dangerous. But yeah, there is certainly some aggressive fauna, which I tend to avoid, because, there's no reason to seek it out, and you wont find much of it, even in areas with minute population levels. As for the flora, I wouldn't even recognise half the posionous stuff in Australia, but it's never fazed me.

Also, box jellies aren't as much of an issue as they're made out to be in my opinion. They're pretty much restricted to tropical waters, and it's not like the ocean is full of them. As long as you take precautions when they're in season, it's not an issue.

1.- That's an unfair generalisation, though it sucks that it happened to you.
2.- Sporting culture is not unique to Australia.

Well, Oz is the place I hope and dream to move to, and I had to take into consideration all of the myths about the wildlife. But after some research I came to realize there's a lot of dangerous animals, sure, but there's dangerous wildlife everywhere in the world. I'm not overly concerned about it.
