But they're haunting me in my dreams
Please, break my shackles, I want it to stop

Did you get ME2 from origin?

I would check the forums or support since origin wasn't out until ME3, so the system may not work correctly.

you have to manually put the save you want in your Mass Effect 2 folder.

1) go to your ME1 saves(should be in Libraries\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\save
2) Copy the save that looks like this Char_01-41-2-1-2-30-12-2010-35.MassEffectSave. It will probably look a little different, but it's the save of your character after you finished the game.
4)Now go to your Mass Effect 2 folder, just go out of your ME1 folder and it should be there if you have started up the game before.
5) If there is already not a save folder create one, and then create another folder called ME1 and paste your save in there.
6) Restart Mass Effect 2, go to New Game then to import and if I told you the right steps then your ME1 save should be there.

Oh and the save you need to copy should be like the first save in your ME1 folder, if not then just keep looking.
