Well, since America is still here...
That's pretty much my thoughts on it.

Shhhh don't say anything. The War of 1812 (and vietnam) help to keep back the LOLMURRICA people as they argue in threads like these.

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

Technically it was a tie, but England won.

Protzy

US because we still maintained our borders and held the British off.

  • 01.06.2013 2:47 PM PDT

Well, if we'd lost it we'd have become a part of Britain again. But if we'd won Canada would be in the US. Therefore it was a draw.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

-Me

it was a draw, so America won.

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

US made North Vietnam sign a peace treaty with the South ending the war. US left North Vietnam invaded again. US won the first Vietnam War, the South lost the second.

Andrew Jackson won.

I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

The Russians. Even if Napoleon took Moscow, the lack of food and the burned down city left the Grande Armée helpless for the upcoming winter.

Yeah... I'm that cool.
Robot Academy. Kinda sorta the best group on here.

The British, obviously.

The US declare war and try to invade Canada. They failed and almost got conquered by the British in return. How people can say "Muricca won bcuz it still exists!" is beyond me.

Had Britain initiated the war and tried to conquer the US and failed, then yes, the US would have "won". But they didn't. You can't try to conquer a nation, fail and almost get defeated yourself, and then say "ultimately, we didn't lose any of our territory, so we won!". It doesn't work like that.

Noone really, the US did use it as excuse to murder the natives in order to gain more land though. British were busy in Europe with an actual millitary genius..

England no doubt.

*Is American*

Our capital got burned to the ground. Don't know how any American could say we won that.

Johns Hopkins University professor Eliot Cohen, a senior adviser to former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, writes in his published book Conquered Into Liberty that, ultimately, Canada and Canadians won the War of 1812.

That's just because New England was being New England.

Lemme tell you of the Battle of New Orleans. Those were veteran soldiers of the British army that got routed by a boy from Tennessee and his rag-tag army.

I am a monument to all your sins

Well, America got what it wanted, so we won in that regard. England kind of thrashed us for the most part militarily though.

We don't. We are taught all about that in school (at least I was), that doesn't mean we need to bring it up in discussions that have nothing to do with it.
