"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I find it hard to be bad at CoD.
I suppose this is true, or at least should be, seeing as how the majority of players encountered in either of these games are varying degrees of bad.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

I seriously suspect that PSN CoD is marketed specifically to those who have either lost or have never had their thumbs. All the players on PSN are hilariously bad.

I am the Carpet man they talk about... I jump from star to star, I walk it out.

I'm above average at Halo, but an absolute monster on COD.

"They don't call him Flopper for nothing"-AquaBlader

So much better at Halo

Lol @ people saying that "Halo takes more skill" or "CoD takes more skill"

Both are incredibly easy to get the hang of and neither require hardly any amount of skill to succeed in. Especially if we're talking about the newest installments of each series.

  • 01.06.2013 11:32 AM PDT

Since Halo is more skill based, I am "better" at Halo, but performance wise I do better at CoD.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

I'm good at both, the difference is I don't like arcade shooters. Oh wait, nevermind, Halo 4 is a arcade shooter. Better at Call of Duty though. The game was made to have no skill to play. I seriously, doubt anyone is saying the game takes skill because that would be laughable and awfully incorrect.

Don't LOL if you aren't L'inOL.

Halo: Reach
Halo 3
Halo ODST

Who the -blam!- cares what people play or not play?

Apparently OP does, and perhaps so do all the people that voted.

OT: I'm better at Halo multiplayer though I still prefer CoD.

I didn't have Xbox Live until a couple months before Reach came out but I've been playing Halo 3 alot since the stats stopped updating so I'm in the 20s.

That said, I admit Halo 3 takes a bit of skill to be good at but there's been like 4 Halo titles released since then which don't.

so the guys who can consistently get 100+ kills in a game, that has nothing to do with skill they are just always lucky?

  • 01.06.2013 11:42 AM PDT

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

Good at both.

Pretty much. People are spawning with different weapons consistently and better perks. He must have a really good killstreaks, depending on which he has, he will succeed because of it. Camping is promoted, and a rank progressive system(which is laughable). Arcade games weren't made to be competitive or take skill in the first place. That is the whole point of it.

I'm sure if you took that one good player and put him in a game where everyone is max level and using the same equipment, he would still rise to the top due to his skill.

We aren't talking about it turning it into a arena game. We are talking about the game's multiplayer as currently. The game doesn't promote that kind of play either and we are basing him off getting over 100 kills? We don't know who the other players are going to be. Are they thumbless idiots? I mean the game still requires you to at least have knowledge of the controller. Any game does. It is the skill gap that is just too small, to even know who is the better man when everyone in the game knows how to work the controller. He could have been just facing people who are totally unaware of how to play and their surroundings. Again, the game is random, it is suppose to be devoid of skill, that is the purpose of a arcade shooter.

Who cares if I lie?

If I played more than 1 game of COD every 3 months, I'd be better at it. However I have no desire to get anywhere close to decent at it, yet I still do very well every game.

Much better at Halo.

#rubberdingirapids

Halo, although it took a lot longer for me to be good (Not going minus every match) at Halo than CoD.

Halo wasn't the first shooter I played, but it was the first I played competitively online.

I'm far better at Halo.

How to be good at CoD.
Camp + UAV spam.

I'm good at both I'd say. I got a 50 in Halo 3 (not that its saying much) I've maintained a 2.00 k/d since Reach in Halos (Even after 50% of my games were MLG playlists, for the most part).

And I've maintained a 2-2.5 k/d in the recent CoD since MW2.

Fair play

I'm good in both, but I'm better in COD because all of the CODs except for Black ops 2 don't have a ranking system. So I get matched up with weaker players, most of the time.

  • 01.06.2013 12:44 PM PDT

BE HUMAN

Fight for Earth. Fight for Humanity.

I tend to do awful on one after playing the other for a while.

Hence why I suck at Halo after getting CoD for Christmas.

Sniping on CoD is so much better IMO
