I think game of the year is too broad of a term, you can interpret it as the game that defined the year, the game that sold the most, the game with the best ratings. I think that it should be defined as the best whole package of a game, from the story to the multiplayer, or just as a consistent world. I think that skyrim is the prime example of what a game of the year should be. I think this concept of a whole package is more quantifiable than something like a game that defined the year, and is more meaningful than the ratings or sales.
What do you think, how should we define game of the year?
