She walks around and makes beaver noises.
What sound does a beaver make?
Wait...it's not a beaver. It's an otter noise.

I just recently purchased the iPhone 4S, and I had a question about the wifi.

The only thing that is troubling me is that my wifi keeps going out. My home has wifi and I don't wanna use a lot of my data package so I have to use the wifi. But everytime I lock it, the phone seems to turn wifi off. Everytime I unlock it, I must connect to wifi again. Is there anyway to fix this?

Sounds like it does it to conserve battery.

Have you tried looking in the settings/options?

I've tried everything. I just bought it last night and haven't charged it yet. If I charged it, would that help?

Do you have "Ask to Join other networks" checked?

I've researched it a bit and it seems, as I said, to conserve battery.

There's an app though that keeps your wifi connected after your phone has gone to "sleep." I think its called "insomnia," or something relevant.

Yeah, that's checked for "on."

It says at the bottom "Known networks will be joined automatically" yada yada yada. But it won't join automatically.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

That's weird. Every time you lock your phone it shuts off? Hmmm that might be a technical glitch that Apple "geniuses" have to fix.

Otherwise, get a different provider. I have Sprint and unlimited everything.
I have the iPhone 4. Waiting till my contract to end to upgrade to the 4s. Not bothering to get the iPhone 5.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

Ain't no way in hell I'm going to the Apple store.

But my brother has the same phone as me, and his has been working fine for him. He's had his for almost a year though. I don't know what the problem could be.

So are you saying you have to manually reconnect it, or does it reconnect automatically?

  • 01.06.2013 12:11 PM PDT

Religion breeds hate

Maybe it's your type of Wifi? Some connections cause you to manually reconnect.. I don't know much about them but does it require a password?

EDIT: Didn't see that you had to reconnect manually.

After a bit of research, it seems to be a bug with iOS 6.x - their support forums are littered with threads like this one. I'd try a backup + restore in iTunes, but you're probably SOL until Apple figures out a fix.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've been messing around with it, and I believe I fixed it by doing God-knows-what.

Lock it.
