Subject: So i've been thinking about the extra space in disc holes...

My Brahman is ready.

I was wondering why the discs have the middle cut out, and I realized that's how it spins. A device goes through the middle and spins the disc so the laser can read it.

But what about the extra space cut out? Think about all of that memory cut out that could be used for so much more. Well, I thought about it, and I came up with a genius idea-

We spin the console around.

That's right-the console is spinning around while the disc is in place. That way, the laser can still read it and we can still have that extra space.

What do you guys think?

Why don't you just have the laser spin?

Live - SLAMt4stic

It would be easier to just use a different type of disc that holds more info, Like blu-ray.

Do you know how much money those things cost? At first, I was wondering if they could put a bunch of lasers spinning around in there, but the cost would be too high.

Because aliens.

I just imagined a spinning Xbox in my living room and laughed.

How long did you take to come up with that "brilliant" idea?

Your average nice guy on The Flood.... D: ..... WAIT A MINUTE....

Why not instead have the part where the disk is read spin around inside the console? The whole console spinning around would probably lead to damage to the console and nearby objects.

Seriously speaking: lolno.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

It would save costs, however, and the data would be much more.

It's not funny if it isn't brilliant, however.

I know I'm supporting your idea, if a single CD works out to be 10p and the scale of which disk are thrown it must work out a sizeable amount of saved costs and data increase

Although there must be a reason why it isn't done like that already? Maybe how the disk mounts over all the different systems - to overhaul every pc, laptop, dvd player and gaming system to support a new CD generation would be unideal the market would have to release two of everything to support old/new tech

It's because of the lasers, how much they cost. They cost a buttload of money, but my idea is genius and inexpensive.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Easier to just come up with a a format that uses better lasers for more data density.

Besides, optical is so 1990/2000's, it's the 20teens and cloud/distributed storage is the next thing.

Yes, but its exceeding dangerous and unreliable. We must think of the children! And besides how do you keep a 360 reliably spinning 16 times a second?

Wouldn't the cost of a video game increase for using blu-ray technology to store the data?
