Subject: Why do some games prices suddenly skyrocket?

There just aren't enough moments in the day to rectify the wrongs of the past.

I was looking into buying a copy of Tales of Vesperia, and little do i see but prices of used copies going for $40+. It was released in 2008, so why the hell is the price so high for something that only came out a few years ago, while games that came out a year ago are only like $20?

I like how your sub box is full of science and political videos but your recommendations are full of anime girls kissing each other.

Just Zoid being Zoid ^_^

Small amount made?

Now let's get down to business, I don't got no time to play around, what is this?

I thought the same when I saw Black Ops II for £44.99, and AC3 and FIFA 13 for £50 ($80).

This game? The prices seem about right, but it is a tad high for 4 years old.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I am still hanging on to my copy of Star Trek: Armada II, though the prices still amaze me.

Did another title in the series come out or was announced recently? Older games in a series tend to go up in price when the next title is announced.

Supply, meet Demand. Demand, meet Supply.

It was never advertised as being a massive seller, just something that had a decent fanbase attached to it.

Yup, now i'm a little pissed that i'm going to have to fork over more money for something that should be selling for half of what it currently is.

I take it that it's already been opened and that it's not in mint condition.

Well, the used prices start at $28 USD so I don't know where you got the $40 USD from.

It's still in excellent condition, as is the manual.

But it is a fun and extensively modded game. The price has steadily increased over the years. I just have no desire to sell.

It's 40 at Gamestop which is how i'd get it if i wanted it as quickly as possible. And i don't want to spend around 30 to get screwed over if there's something wrong with it to warrant buying another if i get it used, so you understand my predicament.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

Last week I bought a pre-owned copy of Metroid: Other M for about six dollars from EB games. Today in Walmart they were selling it new for eighty dollars. It's been out for two years! Not even Wii U games cost that much!

  • 01.06.2013 1:39 PM PDT

Well, some get rarer I think.

  • 01.06.2013 1:40 PM PDT

Metro 2033 used to be like $10 and now I see it used for $29.99.

I've personally never had any issues with sellers on Amazon, but it's your call. If it's used for as much as it's new on Amazon, I'd personally buy it new online. I do have Prime membership so that's influential on my decision.

WTF? Eighty?! That price doesn't make sense, i never see games in standard stores go for more than 65...

Yeah so guess new is how i'm going to get it. I wanted to get the Premium version of it then i saw the $120 price tag and spilled my soda so no-go on that.

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

Saw FFVII for $100 in a "retro" store.

They had seven or eight copies.

I walked out, quietly raging.

Tales of Vesperia is a great game. I should really replay it sometime.

Ha, i wasn't old enough to play any early FF games so managing to find anything to play before FF-10 is a fallacy.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

A while ago, I got the demo for an old Sid Meier game called Alien Crossfire, which was actually an expansion for a game called Alpha Centauri. I needed both to play the full version of Crossfire, which was about 20 dollars at the time. However, Alpha Centauri was prohibitively expensive and extremely rare (as much as 200 dollars). Years later, I found out Alpha Centauri had a huge price drop, so I bought it and then looked into buying Crossfire...

...which was now over a hundred dollars.

Such is life.
