Spotify, an entirely legal music program, allows you to pick exactly what songs you want to listen to with virtually no restrictions. And, so long as you keep it on your desktop, it's free.

That alone should make Apple fear for the worst: People no longer need to pay $1.29 to listen to quality music, for free. Even more hilariously, Android phones get the program for free -- ergo, outside of Apple's pricing controls, it has become beneficial to buy an Android for free music.

That all being said, you can listen to just about as much music as you want. For free. If you have an iPhone, then you're going to have to pay $10 a month for premium. Many features aren't included in the free version, but you can listen to just about as much music as you want, with the occasional ad.

All I'm saying is that Spotify has offered a service where you can listen to as much music as you want, for a low price. iTunes is still forcing outrageous prices, hurting both their profits and profits of music developers and publishers.

Spotify, a music-Netflix, is the future of music.

I find it quite amusing that iTunes's prices are now being called "outrageous".

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I love Spotify. You can find a lot of music you wouldnt otherwise.

Do you want to listen to a song without restrictions on your phone? Yeah, that one song will cost you well over a dollar.

That's ridiculous.

edit: I'm sorry, not just your phone. If you want to listen to a high quality audio file via iTunes, you need to pay $1.29.

Robot Academy. Kinda sorta the best group on here.

I prefer actually owning my music than relying on Spotify's streaming though.

When you are expected to buy everything as torrenting is "bad" The average person is going to end up spending 1,000 bucks.

By "average" I mean people that actually listen to music and are always looking for new bands.

I only have 37 gigs on my itunes (lost most of it) but i can only imagen how much money that would have been if i didn't borrow CDs all the time.

Who has thousands of dollars to spend on music?I would be very limited to what i had to listen to if i seriously had to pay for every little thing.

*Looks at vinyl collection*

Now that stuff is worth buying.

Considering Premium members can listen offline, the music wouldn't actually be streamed. You would essentially be renting it, but without a limit of time (assuming you pay the monthly costs).

$10 for unlimited music, no restrictions, wherever you go? That sounds a lot better than iTunes. A lot.

The really good part of it? Is that if you are having fun while posting well and enjoying your time here, not only is your trust rating improving (and the title as a result), you begin to realize/understand that the REAL reward isn't a title or a colored banner. The real reward is that you're actually enjoying your time here and your interaction with other members of the community. -Recon Number 54

While I think the idea is cool, I just don't want to waste all of my phone bandwidth (yeah, I have an internet usage limit on my phone...) on songs.

It still needs you to pay a monthly 10$ for music that you don't actually own. To each his own, but I still like actually having my folders of music.

All you have to do is go offline, assuming you're premium (which you'd have to be if you had it on your phone).

I suppose non-paying Android users would have to. But keep in mind that it wouldn't matter if you were under Wifi.

If you want to own it, then you're willing to toss up the cash to get each and every song. If that's what you want, then fine. But most people are much more economically stiff with cheap entertainment, like media.

You don't own any of the songs on Spotify. I don't get how people could rely on a third party app for their day to day music listening. The free version bombards you with ads and mediocre streaming quality of, I forget, 128kbps? A quality I can't accept listening to.
On the other hand, for the same price as Spotify Premium, Xbox Music offers all the song you want and you can download as much as you want. Plus with the cloud stuff Microsoft has going on between Windows8, Windows Phone 8, and the Xbox 360, it's better than Spotify imo.
iTunes, LOL. $0.99 per every song, iTune users are getting ripped off.

Pathetic. Have fun listening to music that's not only at 128kbps, but compressed to hell by Youtube upon upload. Meanwhile I'll be listening to 320kbps MP3 and FLAC as they were meant to be heard. Use torrents idiot. Or if that's too hard, use MP3skull.
