Subject: Spotify will overtake iTunes.

Who's saying that? Aren't songs still just $1.29? Or are people just being ludicrously cheap?

Posted by: Big Black Bear
I find it quite amusing that iTunes's prices are now being called "outrageous".

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

As a user of both, I say that itunes is better. I like spotify on the computer but the constant ads are annoying. The lag on the android if you're on 3G is also annoying. And, personally, downloaded songs from itunes seem to be in better quality than spotify.

Just my opinion.

Also, most songs I've purchased have been $0.99 and full albums are cost efficient, you usually get 11 or 12 songs for $10.

You don't own the song after purchase though, that's an issue that I, as well as many other people have with it.

K. Got it.

So borrowing CD's is pirating now? Sweet. With that logic, so is going to the library and checking out books.

If by master race you mean "I want to pirate music, but I can't even do it properly" then yes, you are correct.

This.

I find it amazing that people still pay money for songs in this day and age.

How do you not own the song? The file is on your computer.

No...but if you make a copy of the book, then that is infringing on copyrights.

I find it amazing that people use such a laughable tool to download their music.

It's in the terms of service, it was a huge thing a couple months ago.

You can find a source of your preference with the same information.

Better question: Why are you even downloading songs in the first place?

Bud, iTunes has been DRM-free for like, 2-3 years now at least. When you buy a song on iTunes, you download a MPEG-4 audio file that is free for you to use in any way you please.

That's about as close as you can get to "owning" when it comes to digital media.

But, if you read the Terms of Service, that's not the case.

Edit: Is it easy for them to prove that you are violating it, and are they going to enforce it?

Probably not.

But the point still stands.

NON FACET NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRUM PERNĒ¢UM

So it's bad if I use to remember a time when I had issues with the fact that CD's were over $15 a piece.

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

Don't get me wrong, I love Spotify. There's a dedicated thread to it in a group I run and I love that it makes it easy to share musical tastes with other people.

But if someone wants to own their music, then iTunes, Amazon, etc. are much better routes...actually buying a hard-copy of the music is even better.

$1.39/song is not "outrageous".

Good lord, the entitlement of some people these days. Paying to own something? That's absurd!

So what? They can piss and moan all they want. I still have an unencrypted wave form of their copyrighted songs that at the technical level (not legal) I can as a matter of fact do as I please with.

Sorry, but I'd rather get things for free than pay thousands for music a year. I don't have an income and all of my parent's income has to go to bills, food, water, etc. We have virtually no expendable money other than a like two hundred a month.

When your sources are limited, damn right I'm going to go for the thing that is most beneficial to me. And anybody in my position to think otherwise is a comedian.

Edit: Granted when I have the money, I do buy physical copies of albums. But the idea of not being able to do whatever you want with music you own is absurd in my opinion.

Or had morals...

Music is not a necessity, it' not like you are stealing food to feed your family.

Borrowing things isn't an issue... stealing them is.

But whatever, that's not the topic of this thread.

I prefer actually owning my music than relying on Spotify's streaming though.
This is the only thing that's gonna keep iTunes and old school digital music sales alive.

It's also the only reason I haven't completely switched over to Spotify.

If your music library is more than a few hundred songs, that music is going to -blam!- cost you.
