U2
99% sure you haven't owned a 90s U2 LPbecause owning a 90s U2 LP is supposed to change my mind?
Oh god your one of those bandwagon U2 haters.
not really I have about 15 U2 songs in my iTunes, among my favorites being One, I Still haven't found what I'm looking for, and Vertigo.
It's just I don't understand how they're pretty much the most successful band ever. Bono, as awesome as he is donating a -blam!- ton of money to charities, seems overtly conceited almost at Axl Rose status, and their music is good, but not good enough to merit dominating the 90s and 2000s as far as revenue and popularity goes. Much of their long lasting success comes from the 90's. In the studio, since 2000 U2 has been nearly forgettable. Yes, I own all records, but I listen to about 3-4 songs on a regular basis between the three records they have released since 2000. Even that is iffy.
One of the serious reasons U2 continues to have success is because of their reputation live. Live, U2 will always be king until they retire ('king' is debatable, but what more difficult to debate is U2 being an elite live band). In the studio, if U2 wants to continue success, they need to go back to the fiery demon they were in the 90's. Right now, U2 is an old fart in the studio. Live? Fantastic. No complaints. Just notice how U2 ditch a lot of 2000 tracks for 1999 and earlier.
Achtung Baby was revolutionary, Zooropa was a good sister album of that, and Pop was ahead of its time. U2, since 2000, has been horribly uninteresting. Sorry to say, Vertigo is only good live. The recorded track? I skip A LOT.
