You clearly know nothing about Nirvana. They had a cult following before Kurts death. They're the reason grunge became as big as it did. I'll leave you with this: Nevermind.

Now if you want an overrated band, The Beatles is your answer.
Nirvana is only famous because of Smells like Teen Spirit, which along with Nevermind made Grunge famous.
In any case, Nevermind is complete pop garbage trash compared to In Utero, and Nirvana in general can't compare to their peers Pearl Jam and AiC IMO.
Honestly, I don't understand why Nirvana is so critically acclaimed. They aren't bad at all but apart from Kurt's edginess they were nothing special.
I like all Nirvana albums, with In Utero being my favourite. but calling them overrated is a bit extreme. I like Pearl Jam, but there's no way I would rate them higher than Nirvana. And lol AiC.

Nirvana are so critically acclaimed because they bought grunge to the masses and a lot of people at the time could relate to the lyrics Kurt had wrote.

Opinions flying all over the place ITT.

Limp Bizkit

Thank god they're not longer relevant even though they have another album coming out this year *shudders*
They do? my god...I feel sorry for Wes then...I bought golden cobra and listened to like 10 minutes and deleted the damn thing off of Itunes. I spent 10$ for something I have had for like 15 mins.

'Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστέ, Υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐλέησόν με τὸν ἁμαρτωλόν.'

Nirvana, to be honest, they are pretty much garbage. The members were average guitar/instrument players at best, and most of their lyrics made no sense. I find it quite shameful that they are mentioned alongside the rock n roll greats when in reality I could think of several bands and guitar players that could easily wipe the floor with Nirvana, yet, Nirvana is mentioned in the same league as them just because their leader died.

'Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστέ, Υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐλέησόν με τὸν ἁμαρτωλόν.'

I don't see how being so popular necessarily makes Nirvana so great. The Beatles and Elvis Presley were easily more popular, famous and wellknown than almost any other artist and/or band in history, but surely you wouldn't say that they are the best would you? Lil Wayne is the most popular rapper alive right now, whereas the masters like Kool G Rap and Rakim--who pioneered complex rap--receive practically no mainstream attention or fame, you wouldn't say that Lil Wayne is better than them would you?

If I ever see anyone post in a thread "That's your opinion", I immediately lose all respect for them.

Also, if you're discussing a topic with me and you resort to name calling, pull "life checks", or just call anything you don't agree with retarded without giving legitimate reasons, don't expect me to take you serious in anyway what so ever.

Nirvana and Dragonforce take the cake.

Umm...Sid was the bassist...and The Clash were the living walking version of the -blam!- you attitude of real punk.

Well how do you define "great music"? I am trying to define it by some objective Rock standards--how efficient and complex they are with their instruments (usually guitar) and their lyricism. Nirvana falls short in both of these categories. You think that Nirvana would even stand a snowball's chance in Hell against the likes of Slash or Jimi Hendrix in regards to complexity and amazing-ness with a guitar? You think their garbage doped-out lyrics would even compare to the lyricism of John Lennon? I just don't see it.

Nirvana and Aerosmith.

I mean, they have some nice songs, but they're not the amazing bands some people make them out to be.

Of course they were famous before then but Kurt's death is 1/2 there still relevant today.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.
