You clearly know nothing about Nirvana. They had a cult following before Kurts death. They're the reason grunge became as big as it did. I'll leave you with this: Nevermind.

Now if you want an overrated band, The Beatles is your answer.
Nirvana is only famous because of Smells like Teen Spirit, which along with Nevermind made Grunge famous.
In any case, Nevermind is complete pop garbage trash compared to In Utero, and Nirvana in general can't compare to their peers Pearl Jam and AiC IMO.
Honestly, I don't understand why Nirvana is so critically acclaimed. They aren't bad at all but apart from Kurt's edginess they were nothing special.
I like all Nirvana albums, with In Utero being my favourite. but calling them overrated is a bit extreme. I like Pearl Jam, but there's no way I would rate them higher than Nirvana. And lol AiC.

Nirvana are so critically acclaimed because they bought grunge to the masses and a lot of people at the time could relate to the lyrics Kurt had wrote.

Opinions flying all over the place ITT.
Just because Nirvana brought Grunge into mainstream doesn't mean they were the best grunge band.
idk, I'm not trying to hate on your opinion or anything but it irks me that Nirvana is so revered compared to other bands of its time.

You unlock this door with the key of inebriation. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of gingers, a dimension of drunks, a dimension of Lucky Charms. You're moving into a land of both beer and potatoes, of marshmallows and leprechauns. You've just crossed over into... the Shamrock Zone.

GT: Agent Shamrock

I don't even know what to say to you OP I frickin' love Aerosmith

Because Nirvana did what they never and made Grunge what it became. Sure other bands helped, but Nirvana had the biggest influence.

I'm not going to take anyone saying Nirvana seriously when they say they only became famous after Kurt's death.

Of course they were famous before then but Kurt's death is 1/2 there still relevant today.
Lol no. Just no.They're still relevant today because they made good music. Whether you like it or not, they did.

Can we just get back on topic they are overrated in my opinion as there legacy was helped by Kurt's death and Nevermind shouldn't be near the top 10 of any best albums of all time list as it wasn't the best album of the ninety by quite a bit.

Yes it's your opinion that they're over rated, but it's not an opinion by saying they're only relevant today because of Kurt's death. That's just wrong. Again, saying it wasn't close to the best album of the 90's is just your opinion.

Look all I'm saying is the main reason 13 year old girls are wearing Nirvana T-Shirts is that Kurt Cobain committed suicide and I will say most of the following gained from it is false.

I'll admit, we'd have to largely credit Nirvana for bringing in punk and emo elements into grunge and thus changing the genre forever, but that simply makes Nirvana extremely influential. Simply because they were the first to make those sounds (and honestly, bands like the pixies had been doing it long before nirvana) doesn't mean their the best (although tbh there are very few 'nirvana wannabes' out there that are really good).

Nirvana, to be honest, they are pretty much garbage. The members were average guitar/instrument players at best, and most of their lyrics made no sense. I find it quite shameful that they are mentioned alongside the rock n roll greats when in reality I could think of several bands and guitar players that could easily wipe the floor with Nirvana, yet, Nirvana is mentioned in the same league as them just because their leader died.

>implying average instrument players can't create great music
>mfw you even said they're average at best

you're wrong

Well how do you define "great music"? I am trying to define it by some objective Rock standards--how efficient and complex they are with their instruments (usually guitar) and their lyricism.

>implying music has to be super complex to be considered good
>mfw you think kurt should have been shredding arpeggios each and every song

do you even music?

Butt ugly ape” remarked Sergeant Johnson always making fun out of the situation even though he had been hit by a spiker round in the arm. He mustered up the strength to continue and the team moved on. The Arbiter informed him that the next room held The Prophet of Truth and this was the final room before extraction. Jun proposed that he takes a shot from a distance the prophet and they all head back to the ship bay for extraction. The team agreed on this and breached the last door…

Skrillex.

Knife party isn't though.
