Nirvana, to be honest, they are pretty much garbage. The members were average guitar/instrument players at best, and most of their lyrics made no sense. I find it quite shameful that they are mentioned alongside the rock n roll greats when in reality I could think of several bands and guitar players that could easily wipe the floor with Nirvana, yet, Nirvana is mentioned in the same league as them just because their leader died.

>implying average instrument players can't create great music
>mfw you even said they're average at best

you're wrong

Well how do you define "great music"? I am trying to define it by some objective Rock standards--how efficient and complex they are with their instruments (usually guitar) and their lyricism.

>implying music has to be super complex to be considered good
>mfw you think kurt should have been shredding arpeggios each and every song

do you even music?

Needler Rifle you are dead wrong

>implying you have to be able to play any type of song from any genre of rock

they played their genre and they were great at it, that's all that matters

do the red hot chili peppers need to be able to play lamb of god songs, and vice versa, to be considered good musicians? obv not

you're wrong

I don't hear rap on the radio anymore, it's mostly just hip hop - which I absolutely hate! Especially that Diamonds song. holy hell I hate that song!

rap is hip hop.

hahahahahahahahahaha No.
Beastie Boys.

technically yes. rap is a form of hip hop.

No as rap requires the artist to rap hip hop doesn't.
No, you're wrong

Although I do enjoy simple stripped down music your argument seems to be 'Just because Kurt Cobain isn't a good gituarist doesn't mean Nirvana are not amazing'. I'm afraid it helps... Greatly.

"They don't call him Flopper for nothing"-AquaBlader

It helps but it is not required. Needlers argument is saying that you have to be classically trained in order to make good music.

Linkin Park.

lolnoteven

Everyone thinks LP went down after Meteora and Hybrid Theory, but I think with their new album "Living Things" they've improved majorly.
All great albums but my fave by them is MTM...also as on here we blame stosh...you should blame Mike for anything that goes wrong with LP like that crappy album ATS.

Funny, because I find ATS to be an amazing album, while I see the majority of the rest of their discography to be nothing special.

They are extremely overrated.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

The Beatles.

I think we all need to bear in mind that just because we may consider a band over rated, it doesn't mean we may consider them as bad. Anyway, I haven't listened to every Nirvana song or anything, but I'm putting them up there because I believe they get far too much attention and hype for songs that, in all honesty, weren't too great.

And pretty much anything on the radio today, although you can't call many of them bands, because it's usually just some woman with a load of electronic noise.
