Live stream. (Stream over)

From what I can tell, it's basically a powerful Vita with 4K support (4x the quality of 1080p video. He was playing it earlier...) that's based on the Android platform (kinda like Ouya?)
...

The control is confirmed to run using an untouched version of an unspecified Android version and be power[ed] by the company's newly unveiled Tegra 4 processor.

The company claims Shield will boast a battery life of between five to 10 hours and features a reflex sound system that will offer audio quality on a par with most dedicated portable sound systems. It also features a 5in 'Retinal' display, which will no doubt get the company in a legal squabble with Apple.

The controller looks fairly similar to Microsoft's existing Xbox 360 controller featuring X, Y,B and A buttons, a D-Pad, dual joysticks and rear bumpers and triggers. Shield is also confirmed to house Micro SD, Micro USB, HDMI and audio jack inputs.
As well as running games off Nvidia's Android TegraZone store, Shield is also confirmed to boast a PC Streaming feature. The service will reportedly allow gamers sync their PC with Shield and play them on their TV.

I find hand-held gaming machines awkward. Does anyone really game when they go out? If so, is buying an expensive handheld justified by the amount of time you'd use it when going out? If you just play it at home then PCs and home consoles are the superior choice. You could argue that you have it for the exclusives, but face it, majority of hand-held games suck.

Anyway, I can't actually visit the link on this computer, OP :3

This looks like a great idea, in my opinion. They don't need launch titles, they're already here. It's also running vanilla Android.

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

That's awesome, I've actually wanted a type of device/program that could stream the display (and bind controls) to a handheld or mobile device from a PC, and do it well. I was thinking Apple should do that, but I'm glad Nvidia is instead, it'll be much more robust and reliable )Despite the kinks shown in the video, they'll work on it). I was planning on getting a new computer this year, with an Nvidia card, and this gives me even more reason to.

Playing Far Cry 3 max on a handheld while in bed? No problem!

no its legit, i used coordinates, set weapon timers the works.

Why do companies insist on handhelds still? This will fail just like the others.

The DS and 3DS failed?

It's more than that though. You can stream the game running on your PC to your TV and use Shield as the controller. That's bloody brilliant in my opinion. This doesn't look like just another handheld to me.

I think the price will make or break Shield. Though I honestly can't see it being cheap

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Works with OUYA gaming console, streams from PC to any screen in house, can play any game.

This just killed console gaming.

Meh, it looks chunky enough. With Google selling the Nexus 4 at 350$, I expect it'll hover around that.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and simpler to hook up my pc to the tv then use a usb controller

Of course it would. But this let's you play on any screen in the house, while keeping your dedicated PC monitor when you need it for casual things. Then you have a portable gaming device that already has a huge selection of games.

Obviously if you know you'd only be using one screen, and you have no interest in a portable gaming console, this is a waste of money.

I don't think so. There's still a large market for consoles and I don't think this is enough to make people turn to PC.

Seems quite a few companies are 'copying' the basic design of the 360 controller these days.

Join the Halo Haven group!

If it's massively expensive I can't see this competing, but if it's a reasonable price I might be interested, looks quite cool.

if it's not gonna be overpriced like the Xbox 360 and PS3 was during their early yeats and Halo: Combat Evolved was emulated on that thing officially or unofficially i'll consider it
