I believe its Halo 2. Elites, Heretics, Flood, all the covenant including brutes and drones, sentinels.

Plus they had Prophet of Regret, Tartarus and those Mega Sentinels in Sacred Icon
Aye, the enforcers. Tell me, did Halo 4 have any? I never played.

No, but it had regular Sentinels. You don't fight them though, they help you fight off some Covenant forces

Halo 2, easily.

I voted Halo Reach, but then I realized Halo 2 was nearly exactly the same.

EDIT: Reach because Skirmishiraptors.

Halo 2 was the best Halo game
A7x FoREVer!

Halo 2 with the Elites, Grunts, Jackels, Brutes, and Flood. Otherwise, I'd say Halo 4. I liked the Prometheans.

those Mega Sentinels in Sacred Icon

Enforcers were awesome. i wish they had come back in halo 4. shame.

Halo 2 has a total of 34 (give or take a few) different enemies and their subranks, which is more than any other Halo, even if you don't include subranks, Halo 2 still has the most variety off species alone, heretic, covies, flood, etc etc. I think Halo 3 would be the second most since there is 36832354 brute ranks and pure forms.

Halo 3. Since it had new forms and improved forms of enemies. Mostly talking about the Flood forms, and the H3 Brutes. Halo 2 was mostly just different factions and ranks.

Hmm good question.

While H2 arguably had introduced many new types, I believe H3 was a step down in terms of enemies.

Reach dropped the flood and sentinel enemies, but made classes of enemies quite apparent- such as Jackals and Skirmishers, Elite Generals, Commandoes, Rangers, etc etc. Though that is more or less taking firefight into account. It also included the engineers (correct me if im wrong) that H3 (excluding ODST) didn't have.

Halo 4 might be tied with H2. Granted, brutes, drones and engineers were nowhere to be found. Still had original cast of covies, sentinels, and a variety of prometheans of course.

I guess H2, but its pretty close overall.

lol halo 4 had nowhere as variety as halo 2

<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

Halo 3 technically had the greatest variety of enemy units, with the flood pure forms and all that. However I found the halo 2/reach enemies much more fun to fight.

Halo 3 had no elites and went back to having only one kind of sentinel though

I forgot about the sentinels, I suppose that could make them evenly matched.

Halo 3:
It added 3 new Flood to the list.
-Tank.
-Ranged.
-Stalker.
Now add that to the other races of the Covenant and the classes each race has.

CE made their enemies variable. That Elite you stuck wouldn't always charge at you or berserk his head off. He had option C: try to get the damn thing off. Just this little addition made him convincing.

Halo 2 had the most Elite ranks but they were all copies of each other. I'd have liked Councilors to be more distinct from Ultras, Honor Guard Elites and Zealots to be more ferocious with some new animations. These 4 ranks are very similar to each other. That should not be the case. Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and Halo 4 are also guilty of this.

But I digress. Even without the Elites, Halo 2 is quite solid in diversity.

CE, because the enemies were actually different in terms of their behaviour.

Well Rangers and Stealth elites are different at least

Not really any different to Halo 3 and its brutes mostly being copies of each other

This.

Halo 2 had the greatest number of enemies, but much of their AI was copypasta'd - like how Mass Effect 1 has the most variety of enemies but, for instance, Thorian Creepers are just reskinned Husks.

Hmm, that's another good point

I think Halo: Combat Evolved had the best pacing for enemies. You start out fighting weaker Grunts and Elites and progressively start fighting tougher enemies until Assault on the Control Room, then they introduce a new faction the following mission

Yeah that's true.

But Rangers are still based on an Elite Major AI. Another reason I bring up CE is that the Minor, Major, Spec Ops, and Zealot had distinct firing and moving patterns. It could be argued that the Elite Majors strafed much more than Zealots, who usually just stood in place firing. Majors fired in very short bursts while Zealots would hold that trigger down.
