Have you ever watched something like a tv or movie show, or read a book where you found yourself wanting the bad guy to come out on top? and for no other reason than just to see evil triumph for once?

I have. For instance, I was just watching justice league where lex luthor tries to become a god over the universe and establish his minions as lieutenants over the worlds and what not. Something thats a common bad guy plan, and I wanted him to win, to become all powerful and control everything. I know its bad and wouldn't happen, but it seemed like a solid ending to me, all the world under control no more war etc.

The Witch-King, just so I could see him lay out Gandalf.

Walter White.

He's more of an anti-hero though, he didn't start out as a villain, and his intentions are good. Although, I'm only in season two so what do I know?

x_*x Blame Stosh

In slasher movies, it's pretty much mandatory to root for the killer.

I'm always rooting for Count Dooku and Grievous in The clone Wars.

You don't get much more bad ass than Dooku. Is pure class, always calm and collected yet is one of the most powerful force users in that time period equalled with Mace Windu and Yoda. (He has beaten Windu in a duel which says a lot).

I was really hoping that Shylock would win, the Venetians were all pricks.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

What about a protagonist who does morally-abhorrent acts for his own ends rather than any mildly-objective 'good'? Does that count?

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown

Only if the good guy is unlikable.
