Subject: Valve "Steambox" Reveal Coming 2013

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

This is the Source - EDIT Fixed the Link

For those of you that don't know, Valve have hinted at some kind of console type device that comes with Steam built in. Many have speculated that it will basically be a medium power PC locked into Steam but until Valve shed real info we don't actually know.

Thoughts?

Vaporeon are highly adapted to aquatic life. Unlike its pre-evolution, it has the ability to breathe underwater. As stated previously, they have a unique molecular structure. They have the ability to "melt" into a body of water and disappear completely from view. They can also manipulate water molecules, giving them the ability to learn Water-type attacks their previous evolutions could not.

So many new 'consoles' and whatnot being announced. I can see a videogaming crash in the future... Something's gotta give.

I'd still like to see some specs. That and the price are going to be what makes or breaks the Steambox.

That's understandable if you're already a PC gamer but think about console gamers who might need something like this to push them in that direction.

Fix'd.

Of course, I'll stick to my PC but still quite an interesting concept. Might be a smoother transition from console to PC gaming.

WHY WOULD THEY USE LINUX?! There's so little AAA games for Linux!

All of Valve's games will be ported to Linux, just like their OS X games.

Also Steam on Linux might entice devs to actually support Linux.

Linux is rapidly growing. OUYA, Steambox, Blizzard, Unity, Project Shield, etc. It's becoming quite the platform.

Multiplayer will work across OS X, Windows and Linux as long as the game is of the same version on all three platforms.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Cool news, I guess.

Valve.... Making a console...

There will now be a middle ground between XBOX360/PS3 and PC.

Nvidia got there first. Valve derped.

This sort of linux based console is likely the future of gaming. Hold tight.

I like the idea of it being an introduction to PC gaming for someone who has never dabbled in it before, or maybe a console gamer who wants to play a few PC exclusives.

It doesn't really me as I own a rig already, but if anyone can make this work, Gabe would be the person to do it.

While I didn't read that Project Shield is a handheld, so this isn't really direct competition, "gamers" at least are probably going to be more willing to try something Valve-branded rather than Nvidia-branded just because of kmowledge of the company.

Same thing with Intel deciding they are going to make a smart TV nowadays to compete with Google/Apple. Have to overcome the name barrier.

I would have thought it'd be the other way round. Valve has always been a software company, whereas nVidia is known for their hardware.
