Subject: Windows failed to start HELP ME!

Survive until the red dawn rises, when we have spilled the blood of our enemies.

I need help and quickly. I restarted my computer last week to install updated, but when it was re-booting, it came up with a screen that gave me an option to start windows normally or go into repair mode.

I clicked start windows normally. After a few seconds, the windows logo appeared then after 'loading' for a second or two, a blue screen flashed with something like 0000000x something something something.

Windows failed to start. Then it went back to the repair windows or start normally screen.

I chose to repair. It loads, but the repair window never comes up. It just stays with the window start-up background and my mouse.

Does anyone know what to do? I need help, this is a school computer.

Go into safe mode and remove the update

Restore it to a previous setting. The update got corrupted during installation.

Also, F8 during boot up gives you more options. You can restore to last good configuration.

:)

Step 1: Format hard drive and install OS again.
Step 2: There is no step 2.

I know I sound like an idiot noob. But when it comes to this I'm not the best at this AT ALL. How do I go into safe mode? -.-

Firstly, we can't help unless you know the entire BSOD information, which is the Stop Code, Hex Parameters and any sort of error codes.

Seeing as it no longer BSOD's and just can't load past the startup, that seems to be an issue. Your best bet is to see if you can get it to boot into safemode. Can try things like holding down DEL or F4~F8 when it's booting through the BIOS.

Also, how is it a school PC? Let them fix it if that's the case.

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

Turn off your PC.

Turn it back on and start pressing F7 like crazy.

it will give you an option screen, there just select 'safe mode'

Would you kindly ?

take it to your schools computer technician

it costs me $50 to get it fixed, and I cant anyway cause they will only ever fix this kind of problem once, and I already used that up when some -blam!- broke my screen.

Depending on the brand of the computer it might take different key combinations to enter BIOS

Get a student loan, buy a new laptop, and take a dump on this broken one and return it with poop smeared on it.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

ITT: people don't understand that when a computer fails to load past a certain point, you can't actually do anything, because it won't actually load anything like a mouse cursor or start menu or the desktop.

OP, get it fixed. Ask a hardware specialist to give it a look.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Select a restore point of a time before you installed the update if you can, then try reinstalling the update.
Good luck, OP.

Invite a friend with the same school computer over for drinks. Drug him, then covertly switch laptops and send him on his way. It now becomes his problem.

Why did you click the more button? By accident? Reply is at the bottom...
They call me The Precursor

Unless you have the install disc there isn't much you can do. If you can get an OS install disc you can restore the system to before the update.

That, or use safe mode to remove it.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Call for help. Tell the person who comes to help you why you told us.

Why were you updating a school computer? You aren't supposed to do that, for this reason.
