*note when I'm aware we already have signatures, but I mean signatures that appear at the bottom of every post.

What do you think, Bungie.net? Do you want users to be able to have custom Avatars and Signatures?

I want us to at the very least have custom avatars. And if we have signatures, limit them to 100 characters, and no pictures!

Who am I?

mah twitter

Custom avatars would be cool, signatures would be uncool.

Avatars? Yes.
Sigs? Naa. They clutter the page too much, IMO.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I am for it, I think it gives the users more ability to customize their experience here and ultimately have more control over their account.

  • 01.07.2013 8:19 AM PDT

I wouldn't mind custom avatars.

Assuming they made them not stand out, sigs would be great. I say no to custom avatars, mostly because I don't trust the Flood. With a bad site I can at least hover over the link, I can't do that with an avatar. If late night flood ever got a hold of that. *shivers*

Custom avatars I'd probably go for (but I won't be disappointed if we don't get them because people will abuse this). But it's a definite no for the signatures. I don't think I'd like that one bit.

If there was some way to regulate custom avatars that might not be too bad, but I'd prefer signatures stay pretty much the way they currently are.

I don't think custom avatars should be added, I think they belong to moderators/employees. But I wouldn't mind if they were added.

avatars could be cool. But Sigs would just fill the forum with clutter.

Custom avatars would be sweet, but I don't know if we will get them because it could be missed used unfortunately.

I'm not sure about signatures though.

This.

Sigs are too messy.

  • 01.07.2013 9:21 AM PDT

Neither thanks.

  • 01.07.2013 9:25 AM PDT

If I had to choose between the two, I'd rather have custom avatars than signatures, but neither is totally fine by me.

  • 01.07.2013 9:27 AM PDT

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

The less customization and more uniformity we have, the better IMO.

The hidden signatures here are a godsend. I hate going to other boards and struggling to read threads because people's -blam!-ing sigs are bigger than their posts.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

I wouldn't mind custom signatures as long as I have the option to marginalise them as they are now. I understand why people like them, but it just looks messy to me.

And while I appose custom avatars for all members, I think Bungie.net should allow us to use our XBL/PSN gamerpics as our avatar. Maybe only have custom avatars for Noble and/or Exalted members, if even that.

  • 01.07.2013 9:31 AM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Personally I don't want either, but I could live with custom avatars. Signatures are stupid.

Join the Halo Haven group!

Customization is cool and all, and I agree with having custom avatars, but signatures are ugly, and a step in the wrong direction, take coup for example...that's just horrible to look at.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Custom avatars would be fine if there was some sort of system in place to make sure that you can't upload inappropriate pictures. As for signatures, I would just think that they would be annoying. I approve of custom avatars, but not of signatures.

Custom avatars would be used improperly.

Black Ops & Black Ops 2 emblems
Give some people the ability, they will abuse it.

Signatures?
What good are they? I don't care what little quip or 'witty' statement you may have. If I did, I would simply read your member page. They would be just another form of advertising for many.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

We used to have signatures. They got really annoying, as users turned them into ASCII art billboards. Also, way too much sig bunnies.

Signatures degrade from the content of a thread, IMO. I do not like them. As far as avatars go, I'm not changing mine, so I don't really care.

  • 01.07.2013 9:42 AM PDT

No, I think custom avatars would be abused, and I kind of like having a limited selection and sometimes running into someone with the same avatar. And I like the sigs the way they are now. It keeps the thread nice and clean.

That's one thing I've always liked about Bungie.net, no annoying, cluttery signatures clogging up threads. Besides, so many of them are just awful!

I'm all up for custom avatars, just as long as they're decent. Something like Reach's emblem system (but with more options) would be cool.
