Considering most of the hate about it is coming from Internet users that also are PC gamers I say it's justified. Sure, if all you're doing is browsing the Internet and doing standard things Windows 8 is fine, but for gaming Windows 8 is even worse than Vista.

How? I've had no problems with any games.

Many developers says it's hard to work with and refuse to support it. Current games should work, but future games will probably still be Windows 7.

Somehow all of the engineering students at my school were given access to a bunch of Microsoft products totally free, so I just installed Windows 8 the other day. So far it's alright, but I don't use the start menu/apps often and I'm not sure I would pay money for it.

Can it still run old games? And by old, I don't mean 2005, I mean 1995-2000 old.

It runs Myth, Marathon, and Oni pretty well.

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

A lot of things are different and some I fail to see why they changed it. Lets take skype for example, I could login into skype, use it and then log out (without having to log out of the PC user), on W8 howver I have to change the PC user inorder to login as someone else. Also the only avaliable Skype Statuses are Online or Hidden, You cannot go 'offline' or 'do not disturb'.

Other than that, (once you are past the really inconvinient and steep learning curve) its a pretty good OS. Although I still dont get why are they putting it as a default for non-touchscreen PCs, laptops. The metro-style is obsolete for these types of machines. Its just basically bigger desktop icons and the whole point of them was to make computing more comfortable for touch screen devices.

Check out The Game Lounge

I have heard it is great with touch screens but horrible for gaming.
