Subject: Something I don't understand...

In most zombie scenarios, we seem to doubt the strength of the Military. Just got done awhile ago now doing the 1st episode of the Walking Dead game, and to be honest, I have to admit that it seems to doubt their strength already.

In general, unless it were a complete apocalypse that shook the entire world in mere hours, it probably would be sorted out relatively quickly.

Discuss.

Governments are slow to react and not used to dealing with a zombie threat. By the time they actually try to do something, it's already too late.

Most zombie scenarios I know of depict zombies as relatively slow creatures, with only the intention to kill and devour someone. Already that goes into the Military's favour.

Zombie apocalypse wouldn't happen in America.

80% of the rednecks I grew up with would love an excuse to go around shooting things.

I know people who quite literally have tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Its important to keep in mind that the military isn't a killing machine. Its normal men and women standing up to defend their country.

If the dead started to rise, they would be just as terrified as a non military person. On top of that, the headshot only rule of killing zombies flies in the face of SOP in training and doctrine. The human head (despite what you have learned in FPS games) is not an easy target, especially when the head belongs to a zombified grandmother or 5 year old girl.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I think the Army would be able to take out and zombie invasion, but only if they were prepared for one. Example: gas masks, extra ammunition, probably some way to burn the zombie corpses, and thick body armor, and the problem would probably be solved very quickly.

Let's say you have 50,000 solders holding off 5million zombies. At first the soldiers will slaughter the zombies, but they will get overran by the zombies. The zombies aren't sending off groups at a time they are charging at them in one massive horde.

Tin shacks and catfish bones.

Morbidly obese zombies on these things.

I know that. But what I want to bring out is that these people would, in the scenario of a zombie apocalypse, likely to be determined to save people and whatnot (heroes, saviors, that stuff). As well, the Military has Tanks, Helicopters, Jets, Carriers, IFVs, all that I can't be bothered to list.

Just my vote.

This. The Military doesn't attack with all 300,000 troops upfront. That's why the Military gets overrun.

Neither are five million zombies in the same place.

I think this would be the reacting to a lot of them at first.

Of all of those, only the tank is a useful zombie killing weapon. All of the others are based on the concept of restricting the enemy's movement via fear.

Using jet fighters and helicopter to kill zombies is like using an icepick to kill ants. The talk is only useful as an armored transport.

In actuality, a MRAP would be a better anti-Zombie vehicle, as it has multiple weapon ports.

yeah, the army has tanks, helicopters, and bombers. Also, drones. Zombies can't infect machines.

Not really. If you have an area that has a mass horde of them running around. You can send in a few helicopters to take care of them. It would be a lot safer and more effecting than sending in ground troops and vehicles.

You still need to send in men to make sure the area is clear and kill any stragglers.

And this is the undead that we are talking about. Once the rockets and missiles are gone they have to resort to the machine cannons to finish the job. That won't incinerate the target, even if you blow it to hell and back, if the head survives it just becomes a landmine until you find it and kill it again.

Not if it wakes in the morning takes a deep breath and gets real high. And screams from the top of its lungs: "What's going on!?" When ever someone walks near it.
