Because the media.

Sadly this.

The media has failed our country terribly. They are no longer the watchdogs they are supposed to be.

Phhh. You honestly think they were ever our watchdogs? The media has always been biased.

Watergate is just ONE example.

Not many people are equipped to handle it. Sandy Hook really did effect me. Sometimes things happen that challenge your world view and puts your mind in logic lock.

People are not logical creatures. We're messy, irrational and emotional. Its important to remember that.

The way I look at it is now the kids don't have to suffer through entropy, pain and suffering, and eventual death that plagues us all.

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

The reactions are clearly the government's fault.

Amygdalic response.

When humans are under attack or perceive an attack, their brain has a response that switches decisions, observations etc over to the amygdala; the emotional control of the brain. The amygdala can process information and come up with a reaction faster then the other parts of the brain. It is kind of genetic storage for proper response. It for instance tells you to flinch if you are about to be hit.

Now there are situations where it has no data on the attack or how to respond to the attack. In these cases it tries to use the information it has to make the best possible response. This is a "malfunction". The shooting incident has left many people distressed about the attack. They don't feel safe so the amygdala tries to react. It however can't perceive an attack, though feels it is being attacked. It responses with it's built in reaction due to a lack of information; irrationality, anger, frustration, and rejection. Hence, people acting irrationally.

(Also this is the EXACT same thing that causes you to rage in video games. Yu feel under attack (in the game) and don't have the information to properly respond.)

asking anyone to be a watchdog who has their hand in your pocket is stupid. Asking someone who has thier hand in most people's pockets to be your watchdog is beyond foolish and stupid. The mmedia's loyalty always has been and always will be to themselves and money. Anyone who tells you differently either has a hand in your pocket, puppet strings on thier limbs, or a pistol to your neck.

Because it's easier to talk about how games/music/movies influenced the shooter rather than have a national conversation about responsible gun ownership and adequate access to mental health care.

Not to mention that the general public seems to have a very poor grasp of those two issues, especially the latter. It's actually quite shocking how many people I talk to have basically no literacy in how psychology or mental health of any kind works, or what kinds of things can determine the mental health of an individual.

So sad how someone can be shot out of nowhere and people will go "oh well, happens all the time" Your only option is to be careful when out.

Blaming the unrestrictive and loose gun laws is the right thing to do
incorrect. Blaming does nothing. It attempts to point towards the source of a problem.

More restrictive gun laws do nothing. Criminals by definition do not obey laws. Also, once something is legal, it is nearly impossible to make it illegal again.

Even if all guns were destroyed, people intent on commiting crimes would find away. Ban guns, and they'll use explosives. Ban all chemicals, and we use bows. Ban bows and swords and tools will be used. Ban those and people will kill with rocks and sticks. Ban those and hand to hand combat will be used. Strict gun laws out of fear of violence aren't a slippery slope; it's an impending avalanche.

How about we focus on the victims more instead of the killer? Remember the victims, let the criminal be forgotten by everyone and never spoken of. Let him fade from existance. His sentence wouldn't just be self inflicted death; it would be as though he never existed at all.

Can't we all just agree that it's the shooter's fault? He was just a mad man that stole a gun and shot up a school.

The reason more people use guns because it's easy and efficient to use them. If you make it harder for people to kill I can tell you something, here it is, you'd find less people being killed. I know it sounds crazy, but I can guarantee you that this is true

it's not intentional stupidity. It's a paniced reaction. Trust me, everyone has had one. The reaction seems logical at the time, because the logical mind has shut down and it is instinct telling you what to do. It is a lash out and a blame shifter. Trying to make sense of something illogical to your mind at the time.

If someone is set on killing, they'll kill, or at least attempt it. That has been true for all of human history. Percentagewise, this is actually one of, if not the actual, least violent times in history. It seems greater due to population growth.

Today I learned that we have "unrestrictive" and loose gun laws.
