David Hewlett, major character in Stargate Atlantis and minor guest roles in other series of the same franchise tweeted last month, dropping a major hint that a Stargate universe movie is not only being thought of, but may start shooting soon.

For those of you not completely familiar with the show, Stargate Universe was the third spinoff of the Stargate franchise, and featured a stranded crew aboard an ancient spaceship hundreds of galaxies away. The show ran for two seasons before being ended mid-story, presumably due to MGM's financial crash.

The story was never resolved and offered to answer a lot of questions raised about the franchise as a whole. Continuation of the series was always a hope of mine and many others. Producing feature length films worked fairly well for the SG-1 series, and I am hoping for the same here.

Is anyone else as excited as I am?

I'd rather see another CoD.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Hell yes. And mentioned by McKay no less. Tho, you'd think he'd be hinting at the halted Atlantis movie continuation. I'd rather see that first, but a proper ending to Universe would be good too.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself

I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Please and thank you.

If anything a movie just to know what happened...

Sweet! I just want the damn story to be finished more than anything. Even if the series wasn't the greatest, leaving a Stargate series without a conclusive ending just sucks.

Please please please. I heard the actors all moved on, but it was such a fantastic show... I want it back. I'd kill for not only a resolution, but a continuation, hah.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

I actually enjoyed SGU quite a bit. It was a fresh take and I was sad to see it cut short. Hope this is true.

I've got a fan!

BattleStargate Universe movie? It'd be cool, but it takes more than a tweet to refute statements from the producers that Stargate is finished.

I liked the series so much because it had a much more gritty scifi feel, sort of like Firefly. It was a bit too much episodic, in that, in each episode, a problem was raised, there was a conflict, then it was usually resolved without revisiting it again. This has been a formula that's been popping up a bit too frequently, and is poor writing, in my opinion. Towards the end of the show, however, it was drawing out story elements across several episodes, which was nice.
