Halo really did make a place for itself in the gaming scene.

Do you think Bungie's next game will be the same or just a "moment of glory" game?

I guess there's only one way to find out but I don't think it will be as big as Halo got.

No not really.

The weird scifi-steampunk-Naussica of the Valley of the Wind thing they got going doesn't have a ton of mainstream appeal.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

nah

When Halo was first announced people thought the chief was a woman, Its bungie, i'll give it a chance. Only time will tell.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

No, I don't. Halo left quite a stamp, and has even reached far beyond gaming itself with tie-ins everywhere from Megablocks, to more books than the Harry Potter series, to almost having a big-budget AAA feature film, to a legitimate show.

Halo is comparable (not equivalent) to Star Wars in what it was in the wake of Reach. I believe it's fallen since then, but that's another discussion.

Can they do it again? Maybe, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll still pick up their next game though. They've earned my support.

Yes, because it will be the flagship title that ushers in next gen with the new Xbox, just like Halo.

Lol.

Comparable to Star Wars? I don't think so. Halo is what, 5 games? Star Wars has more content related to each specific movie, and there's six of them mind you, than Halo has in its entirety. That's just movie tie-in games. Then you've got TONS of spin-off games (the Old Republic series is just one of many spin-offs and probably has as much fan attention as Halo). There's probably been 50+ books and comics as well. Numerous, numerous toys. Halo has some toys but it isn't near comparable to Star Wars (I work at a retailer, Halo has like 1/4 of an aisle for all of the toys, Star Wars has basically a whole aisle dedicated to just action figures, and then bleeds into another section with all the LEGO stuff, and Star Wars is hardly in its prime).

Star Wars is a cultural icon. Mario is likely the only video game franchise comparable to Star Wars.

Quite the bit of truthful logic, considering it.

It was in it's prime 30 years ago. Get out.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I pretty sure the expectations will be so high and the comparisons with Halo will be made by every critic left and right that it might just end up being a victim of Halo's success. Living in the shadow of it's older brother.

But I hope not. Cause Halo 4 and Reach made that shadow a whole lot smaller in my eyes.

I'm holding off judgement for when I see more than just concept art, personally. I don't think it'll be as big as Halo was, though. Halo was king.

I like how you started your response with "Lol." Clearly you have a lot of respect for my opinion, despite having misunderstood it. Good on ya.

Halo in the wake of Reach was comparable to star wars. It had three games from which a complex and detailed Universe emerged with supporting assets from different forms of media. This phenomenon is very similar to what happened to Star Wars was when it was new.

No.

Reason: Halo wasn't a success because it was a new genre- but because it introduced a new style of gaming- hauling TV's to your buddy's and playing lan.

With the amount of overhyping this forum is making about Destiny, I am betting for some sweet, delicious dissapointment when the game comes out.

Uh, what over-hyping?

We don't even have that because we know next to nothing about it.

Have you seen the Community Forum? People constantly begging for more info and praising Destiny like it is the coming of a Messiah.

The amount of praising Bungie receives there, makes me a bit uncomfortable.
