They usually aren't homeless because of hard times, substance abuse or even being of unsound mind.
No, they choose to be homeless as a protest of what they see as a decadent and wasteful system.
That's awesome. I wish we all had such devotion to what we believe in. Too bad that probably isn't the case for the vast majority of them.
It is, for a lot of homeless people.
Before you freak out, I live in a town known for its rowdy and large homeless population, there a plenty of mentally unbalanced drug addicts, and many of them chose that life.
That can be taken a lot of ways. I seriously doubt that a considerable percentage of homeless people wanted to be homeless when they were 15 years old. I would not remotely be surprised if most of them wound up in positions where decisions that resulted in homelessness were chosen, but I have heavy doubts that even a lot of people decided one day to simply abandon their stable lives to live on the streets.
No one ever said they had stable lives to begin with, its just that they are unwilling to change.
