Subject: Modern Cartoons are not worse than old ones

Cartoons totally haven't gotten worse, we're certainly still in the golden age of animation!
That picture is incredibly flawed. You have 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s cartoons in one picture and call it an "age", while you only have 00's cartoons in the second picture. Of course there's going to be more cartoons in the first.

Also, a lot of cartoons aren't in the second.

I don't watch many cartoons... except for Spongebob, but when I do, they're pretty decent.

Also while regular show is fine, one good show in the ENTIRE MEDIUM is appalling (kora was average, bordering on fanfic levels of meh).

By far the most inaccurate picture I've ever seen.

Some things in this World you just can't explain; but that doesn't mean they are any less true, just that you have to chose to believe in them.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
One, two, Pinkie's... Coming for you...
Three, four... You will breath no more...
Five, six... Gotta add it to the mix...
Seven, eight... Gonna bake cupcakes...
Nine, ten... You're my very best friend...

There's only a minority of cartoons which are good now, compared to the majority of crappy ones.

There's just not that many good shows anymore.

Need I say a damn thing more?

Samurai Jack
Ed, Edd, and Eddy
Dexter's Lab
Johnny Bravo
Starwars: Clone Wars
courage the cowardly dog
spongebob

Only good shows you mentioned (besides Avatar the Last Airbender, which is hardly "Old", and you can't include Star Wars the Clone Wars, that came out in 2008.)

Spongebob was only good until 2004 anyways, after the movie the show's been garbage for like 9 years now.
1) I didn't say "THE clone wars", I said "clone wars." Completely different series, bro.
2) My list is still longer than yours.

Okay, you have one more show than me. Your period of cartoons was also much longer than mine.
No, I have several more. You just didn't acknowledge them as good, same as I did with your list. If you're going by that standard,I have 6 more than you. Also, how can you say TLAB is bad if you like Korra, that's like saying Star Wars episode 4 sucks but episode 1 is amazing. And I even limited myself to mid 90s-2004ish Assuming your time is 07-12, your list should be at least half as long as mine, but it isn't You have 1, I have 7 or you have 7 and I have 16. Face it bro, Cartoons used to be better.

You couldn't be more wrong, almost all of the cartoons in the first picture are from the '90s and extremely early '00s, even when you take out the ones that aren't from that time period, you still have a lot more than the second picture.

And why does the second picture have only a few cartoons? because those are the only "good" ones from this time period.

Why do you think The Legend of Korra sucks?

Also, in my opinion a lot of the shows in the top picture are pretty bad as well. At least a third of the shows in that pictures are a LOT older than the 90's, also.

If I ever see anyone post in a thread "That's your opinion", I immediately lose all respect for them.

Also, if you're discussing a topic with me and you resort to name calling, pull "life checks", or just call anything you don't agree with retarded without giving legitimate reasons, don't expect me to take you serious in anyway what so ever.

In all honesty, the only cartoons that have came out since like 2005 that I've like are Ben 10 (the first set of aliens, not the new ones), Symbiotic Titan and Avatar. Every other one I just can't stand and yes I've watched all the ones people recommend.

  • 01.07.2013 6:33 PM PDT

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

As an Animator I do find the new cartoons more cheap and with less quality, but easier and faster to make.

That's a shame since American cartoons have a real bad art style, very cartoons has this very good quality just as the new Thundercats for example or Family guy who has a bad artwork, but excellent animation framerate.

These?:

Regular Show -- it's fine
Adventure Time -- overrated "lol so random" crap
Gravity Falls -- Haven't seen it(not available in my country)
Legend of Korra -- average, bordering on being fanfic
Chowder -- terrible, bad voice acting, bad jokes, bad everything
Star Wars The Clone Wars -- haven't seen much, but everything involved with star wars as of late has been pretty bad, i wouldn't be surprised if it was the same
Generator Rex -- from what i saw of it, it was just a ben 10 knock off

Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, The Looney Tunes, and The Jetsons all make up a lot of the picture.

And The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and Gravity Falls were left out of the second picture.

1) as stated before, sucks, lazy art style, couldn't keep my attention.
2) lame, overhyped, couldn't keep my attention, very lazy art style leads me to question the quality
3) never seen it
4) I'll give you that one, but the original series was released well before, so only counts for half.
5) dear god, that show made me want to kill small children
6) breaks canon, milked off of something older, terribad, even for star wars, try again.
7) what? never heard of it.

So far you've named one that I can say is decent, and its a sequel to an older cartoon.

Your opinion is in the minority then, as those shows are all heavily praised. Besides, it's not like all the old shows were gems either. People only remember the good ones. It'll always be the same. People will remember the good shows like Korra and like Ed Edd and Eddy, while we will all eventually forget the crap like Planet Sheen and Sheep in the Big City
Samurai Jack
Ed, Edd, and Eddy
Dexter's Lab
Johnny Bravo
Grim adventures of billy and mandy
Teen Titans
Static Shock
Starwars: Clone Wars
Megas XLR
Batman Beyond
Animaniacs
courage the cowardly dog
Justice League
Avatar:TLAB
spongebob
Xmen: evolution

This is just a list off the top of my head of shows I watched growing up that are much higher quality than anything you listed. Now, what was that about there being just as many good cartoons these days as there used to be?

Original X-Men AS
Original Spider-man AS
Batman AS
Superman AS
Men In Black AS
Digimon
Scooby Doo
Rocket Power
Mike Lu and Og
Tom and Jerry
Looney Tunes
Flintstones
Jetsons
Space Ghost Coast to Coast
Codename Kids Next Door
Powerpuff Girls
Captain Planet
Johnny Quest
Zoids
The first Star Wars Clone Wars

Soooo many cartoons

Jesus, you're including shows from like the 60's. It's not fair to compare like 40 years worth of cartoons to the last like 5 years.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I would say no generation has ever had a complete plethora of gold shows. I think every few years one just comes along that's one of the all time greatest.

Case in point: Avatar the Last Airbender

Exactly. You can't say pre-2000 cartoons > post-2000 cartoons, because there are substantially more cartoons before 2000 than after 2000.

The vast majority of the 90s was syndicated cartoons, where have you been? There were entire blocks, hell even full on day marathons devoted to cartoons before the 90s. Even if they were produced before it, they were very much 90s cartoons. These same cartoons were shoveled off onto their own cable channel or ceased to air all together.

You can argue that 00s cartoons aren't as good for that reason. Because quality cartoons have, for the most part, stopped airing.

Real account.

Join me as we make new friends from different communities!

If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

If people have a problem with current TV shows, they have the right to search for older ones.

So if CN started airing old Ed, Edd, n' Eddy episodes, it would be a modern cartoon?

'06 was the transition year and void for either side, your era starts in '07. Why you might ask? because that's about the year kids born in the 2000's became capable of registering what was on TV while kids born in the 90s-mid 90s started to become teenagers, thus the era changed.
