I mean, I'm pretty old by the standards of people who enjoy video games enough to post on forums about them.
Are you?

OT: That's just how some people are.

Did they get those numbers from polling large numbers of people or from the credit card records and what not? If it is the latter then all those statistics aren't very accurate since my mom (who is over the age of 40) bought all my games until I turned 17.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

One of the only reason I dislike plushes is that they are hard to stand upright.

I was thinking about getting a Shinx but it's rather large
SHINX :D :D :D

Plushies do take up a lot of space, and they are kind of inconvenient. I still love them, though. My sisters have a whole collection of Mario plushies of all the iconic characters, it's pretty awesome. I'm so jealous of their swag. :(

If I were to collect anything, though, it'd probably be Doctor Who stuff. I already have a few posters, it'd be cool to get myself some TARDIS gear, Adipose plushie, stuff like that. Not gaming-related, I know, but I've been a huge Doctor Who fan for years so that's what I'd go for. If I were to collect gaming stuff, it'd probably be Pokemon-related.

Geez, I love how you're only responding to very few people, and ignoring all the people that are proving you wrong/claiming you're being ridiculous. Closed minded?

"Hardcore" is relative.
Only people who don't want to be casuals and aren't hardcore enough say this.

Assume who you are, deal with it, casual.

lol
That's what I thought. Bow before your infinitely better, scum.

A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal.

And from FOX, two phantoms were born.

Just steal them?

Meh I dislike Doctor Who as it is now I want this.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

There are people who call themselves "hardcore gamers," who have never beaten a Ninja Gaiden game.

And I ain't talkin' 'bout that new age -blam!-.

I find that people's definitions of hardcore and casual gamers vary significantly. Some consider hardcore gamers to invest loads of time into a games mechanics, while casuals don't. Some consider hardcores to play for competition, while casuals play for fun. Me? I consider hardcores to really appreciate the little nuances of a game, regardless of skill level, while casuals want cheap thrills and the equivalent of a Michael Bay movie.
GUYS WHY DO PEOPLE NOT ENJOY THINGS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY I DO

DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND THAT BY NOT ENJOYING THINGS LIKE I DO THEY'RE RUINING IT FOR EVERYONE

DAMN CASUALS AND THEIR PLAYING FOR FUN

In my experience, most people who say things like this are usually trying to impose "casual environments" on everyone else or are deriding legitimate arguments. Case in point: players advocating for broken gametypes (e.g., AR starts) in ranked matches because they don't like playing with BR's. Someone will make the argument that ranked matches are better suited with BR starts; cue the inane chorus of "we just want to play for fun!"

I don't have anything against hardcore gamers. If that's how you like to play the game, go on and play it that way.

I have a problem with hardcore gamers who think that being hardcore (whatever that even means!) somehow makes them inferior to casuals, or that casuals just don't understand how to enjoy gaming, or that casual gamers aren't "real" gamers and shouldn't be allowed to call themselves that, because I think those kinds of attitudes are unnecessarily clique-y and drive away a lot of people who might actually have an interest in exploring gaming as a more serious hobby.

My point was that people should be allowed to play the game the way they want to play it.

Haven't seen anyone "proving me wrong" on that score, but I've seen a lot of people who seem to be angered by the idea that some people just don't enjoy things the way that they enjoy things, which really only further proves my point about how toxic "hardcore" gamer culture is.

You mean feeling superior to casuals? What you're saying is, everyone should hold hands and just be friendly to each other, especially on a place like the internet where you're anonymous? Yeah, good luck with that.

Why do you care on how other people feel towards certain people? Your opinions really shouldn't be influenced by some random online person says on how he's better than a casual

1. Your anecdotal evidence doesn't trump NPD data and surveys.

2. The definition of "gamer" includes those who play online, social, and mobile games. I'm fine with this definition, but I'm aware that the Real Gamers Of Orange County aren't.

Why does anyone post their opinions on the internet?

(and yes, I meant "superior", derp, my bad)

I just think the culture is toxic, excludes potential new fans from becoming more serious about gaming and is generally stupid as all hell. If someone playing Angry Birds or Wii Sports calls themselves a gamer, how does that affect the life of someone who plays competitive Battlefield or whatever? It doesn't, so why throw shade at people who enjoy their hobby differently from you?

People act like "gamer" is some title that has to be earned. It isn't - it's just a word for people who like games. Who gives a damn what kind of games those happen to be? Live and let live, bro.

13 year old kids playing CoD claiming they are 'hardcore pro' and yet have barely played any other genre other than FPS and Fifa.

Well you're wrong.

A 'Hardcore' Halo gamer doesn't trash talk mobile gamers. They may trash talk the filthy casuals that are playing the same game as them. I've never seen it crossing platforms or games.

Unless it's just a which game is better thread in which 'hardcore' doesn't make an appearance.
